Assist the Director and Head Coach of the Esports Program by providing additional oversight and management in designated areas of both varsity team and club programs.
Assist in maintaining the daily operations of the UA esports club facilities.
Work with student participants, coaches and other leaders in varsity and club programs.
Work with the director and others in the university and broader community to integrate the esports experience into the academic experience and entrepreneurial culture of UA.
Assist in recruitment of esports student athletes and fundraising for scholarships and program expenses.
Develop, oversee and coordinate our esports teams and club programs, including practices and matches.
Help develop team and individual skills to prepare individual athletes and the team for success. Resolve conflicts between players and motivate players to improve. Supervise student coaches.
Partner with UA Admissions staff to recruit and retain highly skilled players by initiating off-campus activities (including, but not limited to social media campaigns and other marketing) and managing the search and evaluation process for all prospective esports student athletes. Work with the Financial Aid Office to manage and allocate scholarships.
Assist in maintaining and monitoring esports equipment and facilities. Assist in ensuring institutional compliance with various governing bodies for the esports program. Stay up-to-date on cutting-edge equipment and playing techniques for all esports games that the UA team is engaging in to ensure excellent coaching and strategizing.
Monitor and promote (i) the health and safety of athletes and staff; (ii) the academic progress of student athletes to support players' success in the classroom; and (iii) the educational goals of individual student athletes.
Requires a relevant Bachelor's Degree and a valid driver's license.
Requires a minimum of one (1) year of competitive esports experience involving multiplayer online video games that have team-based elements.
Ability to organize, work in a team environment, motivate and guide a college esports varsity team and club program.
Must have excellent understanding of the rules and intricacies of the most widely-played competitive games in the esports field, and the ability to play the game at a reasonably level sufficient to coach student athletes.
Familiarity with team-based multiplayer games such as League of Legends, Hearthstone, and others.
Firm commitment to a student-centered culture and the academic success of students.
Experience maintaining both software and hardware equipment associated with esports.
Experience monitoring budgets.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Masters degree preferred.
Previous experience working in esports.
Previous experience working in a higher education environment.
Experience in teaching, analyzing players, identifying strengths and weaknesses of players and developing strategies for competitive esports at the collegiate level.
Ideal candidate will be able to assist with student-player recruitment, acquisition of sponsorships, and fundraising.
Strong motivational skills, public relations skills and marketing capabilities.
