The essential duties for this job include:
Manages staff in providing statewide HR program support and consultation to internal and external customers.
Oversees Department's position management, compensation, and classification functions including Executive and Management Compensation, job analysis, salary surveys, project/program activities and promotion/reclassification issues.
Oversees the maintenance of system and employee data in PeopleSoft, interfaces, and Standardized Payroll/Personnel Reporting System (SPRS).
Ensures Department compliance with the State Classification Plan in accordance with the Position Classification Act and other applicable federal and state laws and regulations.
Builds strong relationships with business partners and internal leadership to ensure best practices in providing customer support.
Develops staff through mentorship, internal and external professional development, and one-on-one coaching.
Develops and interprets Department human resources policy.
Ensures compliance with laws, regulations, policies and procedures pertaining to functional area.
Analyzes proposed state and federal legislation for impact on existing Department operations and policy.
Represents the Department on compensation and classification issues and advises departmental executives and staff regarding compensation and job classification issues. Performs other duties as assigned.

6 years in compensation and human resources experience
(Experience can be satisfied by full-time or prorated part-time equivalent)
Must have two (2) years supervisory/managerial experience. Project leader or lead worker experience may substitute for supervisory/managerial experience.
Related graduate level education may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis.
Certification as a Professional in Human Resources (PHR/SPHR); Certified Professional/Senior Certified Professional in Human Resources, Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) or equivalent may be substituted for (2) years of required human resources work experience.
Licenses and Certifications
HR or Compensation Certification preferred.
Valid Driver's License (required)
