Compensation Analyst

The Compensation Analyst supports management in the design, development, implementation and administration of pay programs including base pay, salary administration, salary surveys, job descriptions and evaluations, and market pricing analysis. This position will consult with the talent acquisition team providing pay recommendations for assigned business group. The Compensation Analyst will provide strong analytical support for various compensation projects.


  • Create, edit, review and maintain job description library

  • Conduct job analysis on all new and current positions

  • Take a lead role in providing guidance to department managers in regards to job families and creating career ladders

  • Perform market analysis and internal equity studies

  • Grade new and current positions

  • Provide compensation support and consultation to talent acquisition team for employment offers, step progression and promotional increases for assigned business group

  • Participate in annual merit process which includes budgeting, analysis, and preparing presentations

  • Participate in compensation surveys, interpret data and provide recommendations for level changes

  • Model and analyze current and new compensation programs

  • Identify pay trends and develop recommendations to address areas of opportunity

  • Perform analysis, modeling, calculations and audits as needed

  • Manage SharePoint site

  • Adhere to Federal and State labor laws and practices


  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or Finance

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in compensation

  • CCP Certification preferred

  • Advanced Excel skills including vlookups, pivot tables and formulas

  • Experience with PowerPoint

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy

  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal

  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and organizational skills

  • Ability to work independently and establish effective relationships with customers

  • Experience with SharePoint preferred

  • Ability to manage multiple projects or assignments

  • Ability to perform office based tasks

  • Ability to travel roughly 5%

The Role You will work side-by-side with some of the industry's top consultants while you develop cutting edge technical knowledge and skills, as well as project and client management capabilities. Our clients span across a wide variety of industries; our projects range in scope from specific solutions (e.g., base pay program design, job evaluation, incentive design, pay-level benchmarking, goal-setting methodology development, performance management program design, custom surveys) to broad cross-line of business (LOB) engagements such as total rewards strategy and total rewards optimization. While every day and assignment is somewhat different, some of your main responsibilities will include: * Partnering with consultants and clients to design philosophies and strategies to attract, reward and retain talent * Helping our clients ensure that their reward programs are competitive by performing competitive benchmarking analyses * Performing industry and financial research * Keeping abreast of legal, regulatory and legislative trends that relate to corporate governance and compensation * Modeling pay structures and conducting financial impact analyses of alternative designs * Developing, analyzing and calibrating executive and broad-based incentive plan designs that help support companies' business strategies * Drafting documents presenting the team's analytical work to client audiences * Valuing equity awards through the application of financial formulas * Increasing efficiency within client teams by identifying ways to improve processes About you. * Bachelor's Degree in economics, finance, mathematics, statistics or any other major with significant quantitative course work, and minimum GPA of 3.0 * Work experience that demonstrates strong technical and/or client service skills (analyst type of internship preferred) * Passion for solving problems and sharing solutions to exceed the standards of the client * Ability to be a self-starter and work independently, but also cooperatively in a close team environment * Strong written and verbal communication skills and a demonstrated ability to interact with colleagues at all levels * Excellent Microsoft Office skills, particularly in Excel Equal Opportunity Employer/Vet/Disability Willis Towers Watson Philadelphia PA
