Community Wildfire Specialist

AT THE

Washington County Emergency Services Department

FULL TIME / WITH BENEFITS

$15.78 PER HOUR

Performs a variety of duties as needed to plan, organize, and coordinate emergency preparedness and wildfire prevention within the unincorporated areas of Washington County.

Assists in the development of Community Wildfire Councils in the unincorporated areas of Washington County.

Assists Community Wildfire Councils in risk assessment, mitigation, and fire prevention education.

Gathers, updates, and provides facts, data, maps, and other relevant information to aid in the development of Community Wildfire Protection Plans.

Coordinates fire prevention and wildfire planning efforts with the Utah Division of Forestry, Fire and State Lands area staff.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Graduation from college with an associate's degree in engineering, public administration, business administration, emergency service sciences or related field;

AND

  • Two (2) years of progressively responsible work experience in a field that demonstrates an ability to work with the public in emergency response or emergency planning operations, i.e., public safety, fire, emergency preparedness, etc.;

OR

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience.

Must be NIMS trained as a first responder; able to obtain a NWCG or Utah State Fire and Rescue Academy Wildland Firefighter Certification within 6 months of hire; and have or obtain a minimum of either AHA, or Red Cross CPR/AED Certification and First aid certification within 6 months of hire.

Primary job duties for Specialist Drug & Alcohol include but are not limited to: * Manage, process, and maintain drug testing documents * Coordinate and maintain follow-up program testing needs * Coordinate testing needs with employee and collector * Ensure DOT follow-up testing requirements are met for safety sensitive positions * Coordinate with Substance Abuse Professionals and Aviation Medical Examiners * Verify test results and ensure proper paperwork was filled out by collector * Notify appropriate individuals of positive test results * Process record check requests from other airlines * Assist with pre-employment and random testing as needed * Serve as a liaison for employees and/or management with questions regarding testing policies and procedures * Assist with Drug and Alcohol internal auditing processes * Attend industry meetings as needed * Other department duties as assigned Minimum Requirements * Must be at least 18 years of age * High school graduate or GED * Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, Internet, Outlook, Crew Trac, UltiPro) * Ability to maintain a positive working relationship with internal and external stakeholders * Ability to present information, both written and orally, clearly and accurately * Strong project and time management skills * Strong organizational skills * Airline industry experience preferred * Ability to read and understand clinical assessments preferred * Working knowledge of DOT/FAA testing regulation experience preferred * Some travel may be necessary Physical and Other Requirements * Must possess valid driver license * Office setting: Sitting at a computer for extended periods of time * Please complete the online application.
