General Description:
The Community Support & Career Readiness Coordinator at Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA) will oversee the implementation of the SNAP 50/50 grant program, aimed at providing job readiness training and support services to SNAP participants enrolled in NOVA's FastForward programs.
Duties and Tasks:
Responsibilities include managing project budgets
Conducting workshops for program participants
Provide counseling services
Develop promotional strategies to recruit participants to the program
The coordinator will also collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including faculty, staff, and administrators, on meeting participant needs, maintaining program timelines, ensuring compliance with grant regulations, and extending access to support by offering intake appointments during weekends/evenings
Participate in staff meetings
Conduct outreach presentations
May be required to perform other duties as assigned
This position is restricted and is funded with non-continuous or non-recurring funding and is subject to continuation based on fiscal year funds and the needs of the College.
Special Assignments
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
KSA's/Required Qualifications
KSAs:
Skilled in facilitating educational and career readiness workshops.
Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills.
Able to work both independently and as part of a team.
Understand barriers to post-secondary education for underrepresented student groups.
Capable of interpreting and administering federal and state policies and procedures.
Required Qualiifcations:
Experience with grant management and related budget.
Experience in facilitating counseling, case management, and related services.
Experience in the development and implementation of career readiness program.
Experience collaborating with state agencies, community organizations, and other external stakeholders.
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and Google docs.
Additional Considerations
Experience in higher education.
Experience in event planning and partnership building.
Experience with social services resources and benefits eligibility criteria.
Experience with educational technologies like PeopleSoft and EAB Navigate.
Operation of a State Vehicle No Supervises Employees Yes Required Travel
Maybe required to travel between NOVA Campuses.
