Community Substitute

Purpose: Rowan-Salisbury Schools is looking for candidates to serve in the absence of the full time classroom teacher. The substitute teacher provides instruction, encourages student's progress, and manages the learning environment. Candidates will service primarily as support in organizing and preparing instructional materials in a blended learning

environment.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalency required

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Must be willing to serve at any school within the district

• Implements lesson plans in a manner that ensures the integrity of academic time and motivates students to learn

and participate

• Instructs students regarding a variety of classroom topics and course of instruction

• Assigns reasonable tasks and homework to students in accordance with lesson plans

• Addresses the various learning styles of students accordingly

• Demonstrates professional practices in teaching

• Participates in parent-teacher conferences; and attend school related functions

• Supports classroom systems/procedures and helps manage student behavior to ensure all students are fully

engaged in learning

• Ensures a safe and healthful environment

• Enforces school and classroom rules and expectations consistently

• Interacts effectively with students, teachers, administrators, co-workers, parents and community

• Supports the use of technology in the classroom by monitoring student behavior while on devices, and performing

basic technology functions (i.e. troubleshooting) as needed

• Supports software-based assessments, including assisting with creating as assessment schedule, assist in

administering the assessment, and helping with makeup assessments

• Conducts self as a role model, exhibiting positive behavior

• Complies with all administrative directives in a timely and professional manner, including written directives

regarding specific issues or behaviors

• Exhibits punctuality and regular attendance

• Demonstrates a strong work ethic
