We currently have vacancies in the following divisions. The intent of this recruitment is to establish an eligibility list to fill Community Services Specialist vacancies.

Event Services Specialist: Must have strong organizational skills, work ethic, maturity, and commitment to internal and external customer service excellence; the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and follow through promptly; ability to work individually and with a team. Duties include but are not limited to fielding public rental inquiries, generating quotes and rental permits, rental client management, facility tours, and weekday/weekend supervision of part-time staff.

Marketing Specialist: Seeking an organized, creative self-starter with special attention to detail.

Must have strong organizational skills, work ethic, maturity, and commitment to internal and external customer service excellence; the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and follow through in a timely manner; ability to work individually and with a team. Knowledge of the following computer applications is preferred but not required: Canva, Adobe Creative Cloud applications (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop), Microsoft Office and Microsoft 365, and Publisher; computer fluency in PC. Experience with web editions and working with content management systems in order to manage the department's web pages is also desired.

Administrative Specialist: Looking for a proactive, professional, and team-oriented individual to provide clerical support to Victoria Gardens Cultural Center artistic, program, and technical staff.

Duties may include but are not limited to drafting correspondence, standard forms, charts, spreadsheets, and reports, as well as proofreading materials for correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation. Must have strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and multi-task projects from different individuals while following through in a timely manner. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word is highly desired.

The City of Rancho Cucamonga seeks Community Services Specialists to serve the community up to 32 hours a week in the Event Services and Senior Services divisions. These part-time positions lead teams of other part-time staff members to plan and implement Community Service programs and events.

Most days will consist of administrative work to plan and prepare for programs. These positions will also support other part-time frontline staff who provide programs directly to the community. Specialists may oversee the daily tasks of part-time staff and volunteers, lifting/moving tables, chairs, and other equipment appropriate for various programs/events. These positions will also assist program coordinators with creating staff schedules, monitoring vendor contracts, and performing other duties as assigned that are explicitly related to the administration and oversight of programs and events.

ARE YOU QUALIFIED

Education and/or Experience:

Must be at least 18 years of age, have an education equivalent to the completion of twelfth grade, and have a minimum of one year experience in the coordination of cultural or recreation programs or activities or any combination of training and experience that provides the desired knowledge and abilities.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of the theories, principles, and practices and programs common to the field of recreation or cultural arts; methods for identifying community recreation needs. Ability to effectively work with people having varied socio-economic standings; prepare concise written and oral reports; promote recreation or cultural programs; supervise volunteers.

Special Requirements:

Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate California driver's license and a satisfactory driving record.

First Aid and CPR certification required within 60 days of employment.

All positions will be required to complete a mandatory reporting training within 30 days of hire.

Successful candidates shall be required to:

  • Pass a reference check and background verification.
