Under close supervision, performs assignments which involve responsible public contact work in crime and burglary prevention and the delivery of non-emergency police services, providing non-sworn police services in crime prevention investigation and response, and assisting sworn peace officers in various non-sworn related duties. The incumbent will provide clerical and customer service support on a broad knowledge of police subjects.
Furthermore, incumbents provide a full range of office functions such as word processing, filing, record keeping, including preparation of police reports and must be able to demonstrate the ability to handle confidential information. This position requires incumbent to work any shift required including nights, weekends and holidays.
A Community Services Officer I may be promoted to Community Services Officer II ($3291-$3953) salary, after one year of experience and upon the recommendation of the appointing authority.
The current vacancy exists in the Police Department. Immediate and future vacancies will be filled from this eligible list for a period of six (6) months from the date the eligible list created, with the option of extending that period at the City's discretion. Should the competitive process be suspended for this recruitment, the eligibility list may be limited to three (3) months.

The examination process may consist of the following:
WRITTEN EXAMINATION - 100%: The written examination is designed to test a candidate's knowledge of vocabulary, grammar, English usage, punctuation, reading comprehension, telephone procedures, safety, performing mathematical calculations and applying skills in judgment/interpersonal relations. The written exam is tentatively scheduled for the week of: July 22, 2019.
Candidates must achieve a passing score to qualify for the eligible list.
Veteran Preference Regulations
Qualified veterans who pass the examination may obtain five (5) additional points.
