The City of Mission Viejo is accepting applications from qualified applicants for the position of Community Services Coordinator. Currently, there is one (1) full-time vacancy in the Recreation & Community Services Department to be assigned to the Tennis Centers. The schedule and assignment will vary depending on the needs of the City including evenings, weekends, and special events. This is an FLSA exempt position and is not entitled to overtime.
The eligibility list established during this recruitment may be used to fill future full-time, part-time or temporary Community Services Coordinator vacancies to work in any assignment at any of the following locations: Montanoso Recreation & Fitness Center, Sierra Recreation & Fitness Center, Norman P. Murray Community & Senior Center, Marguerite Tennis Pavilion, and Felipe Tennis Center.

Your impact as Community Services Coordinator
This is a supervisory class with program development, administrative, and/or day-to-day operational responsibilities. You will plan, organize, coordinate, develop, implement and provide direction and oversight for tennis programs as well as foster cooperative working relationships with various public and private groups. Some specific responsibilities include coordinating the tryouts for the Pac Sun tennis league; scheduling the Hill & Canyon and USTA leagues; planning, bracketing, and overseeing tournaments such as the Konrad Reuland annual charity tournament.

IDEAL CANDIDATE
Experience developing and implementing tennis classes and events at a municipal center;
Experience with tennis tournaments and tennis leagues;
Understanding of tennis and pickleball facility best practices;
Understanding of court maintenance protocols, court etiquette, and experience within the greater tennis community;
Ability to use tact, initiative and independent judgment within general policy, procedural, and legal guidelines;
Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and possess a strong work ethic;
Flexible self-starter who is enthusiastic, eager to learn, and works independently with minimal supervision;
Extensive experience operating software applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and PerfectMind, or a similar Recreation based software program, and has the ability to easily learn and use new technology; and
Good oral and written communications skills.

Experience and Training and License/Certificate
Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:
Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in recreation, human services, physical education or a related field and two (2) years of tennis coordination experience with a minimum of one (1) year in a lead role.
License:
Must possess and maintain a valid Class C California driver's license and a satisfactory driving record.
Must possess, or obtain prior to completion of the probationary period First Aid, Automated External Defibrillator (AED), and Infant, Child and Adult Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certificates.
