MISSION:

It is the mission of the South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) to impact and transform young lives, strengthen families, and support safer communities through targeted prevention and rehabilitation.

JOB PURPOSE:

Serves as the lead administrative support for the region. Under general supervision plans, organizes and supervises administrative activities in an assigned County office. Provides coordination and support for basic case management activities.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Manages regional administrative support including HR and fiscal activity.

Plans and schedules meetings, events, and trainings for the region.

Assists staff with office equipment to include cell phone requests.

Coordinates the dissemination of information to all county offices.

Edits, formats, types correspondence, documents, and other material as needed in support of Regional Administrator.

Coordinates procurement of goods and supplies for region.

Works with procurement and other fiscal staff and regional staff.

Identify and uses approved vendors.

Responsible for office supply purchases for county offices.

Maintains electronic monitoring inventory and supplies for the region.

Prepares and submits reports and statistical information monthly or as needed/requested.

Performs special assignments and research projects as requested.

Performs all other related job duties as assigned or required.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

STATE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

A high school diploma and work experience that is directly related to the area of employment. A bachelor's degree maybe substituted for the related work experience.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Requires considerable knowledge of the principles/procedures of public/business administration; working knowledge of accounting principles/practices; ability to (1) exercise discretion in interpreting/applying established departmental policies/procedures (2) plans/assigns/directs/review work of others (3) understands and carries out complex oral/written instructions.

Knowledge of computer skills and applications to include data entry and phone skills.

Ability to deal effectively with the public in handling inquiries and communicating information.

Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.

Ability to handle stressful situations and prioritize based on needs.

Ability to work independently, in a group, or for special projects as required.

Knowledge of current office practices, grammatical rules, clerical formats and principles.

Ability to schedule workloads, establish routing and filing systems.

Reports to the Regional Administrator of the region. Annual scheduled performance review: information conference as required or requested.

Work independently or in group with some discretion when needed.

Must be able to work with non-incarcerated and incarcerated youth and their families.

Some overnight travel for training as needed.

Must be able to drive and travel throughout the state.

Must be able to physically lift up to 25lbs.

This position performs job duties relating to the custody, control, transportation, or recapture of youth within the jurisdiction of the Department of Juvenile Justice and the employee may have direct and indirect contact with youth within the jurisdiction of the Department of Juvenile Justice. Training applicable to these duties will be provided.
