Overview

Overview:

Under supervision, performs a variety of routine field and office work involved in community-oriented programs such as social services, housing, urban renewal, education, welfare, unemployment, and crime prevention; interviews community residents and assists them in obtaining government aid and support services, or makes referrals to other agencies; does other related duties as required.

Responsibilities

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Communicate program information by email, phone and mail with clients, subrecipients and funded organizations, members of the public, community organizations and other pertinent parties

  • Preparation, administration, and monitoring of contracts/agreements for various County and State funded programs

  • Compile reporting of eligible activities under county and state programs

  • Provide technical assistance to subrecipients and funded organizations

  • Review supporting documentation for reports, plans and payments

  • Track financial and programmatic milestones of funded projects and activities

  • Coordinate and support committees of the Human Services Advisory Council and the Homeless Trust Fund Task Force

  • Coordinate and schedule meetings, focus groups or special events

  • Represent the Office at various community meetings

Qualifications

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelors degree in related field, preferred.

Experience: Prior experience working for a non-profit, government agency, social services or in community-oriented programming, preferred.

License: Appointees will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform essential dutiesof the position.

Knowledge & Abilities:

Knowledge of the procedures, policies, programs, and resources of local community agencies after a period of training.Knowledge of the problems encountered by community-oriented programs.Ability to identify the needs of residents and the community as a whole and to identify resources to meet those needs.Ability to work harmoniously with associates, families, individuals, and other agencies or organizations.Ability to collect and make correct appraisals of factual information regarding individuals and families.Ability to prepare clear, sound, accurate, and informative reports.Ability to maintain essential records and files.Ability to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems used by the agency, office, or related units.Ability to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in English sufficiently to perform the duties of this position. American Sign Language or Braille may also be considered as acceptable forms of communication.
