FBUSD schools include Redwood Elementary School (grades PreK - 2), Dana Gray Elementary (grades 3 - 5), Fort Bragg Middle School (grade 6 - 8), Fort Bragg High School (grades 9 - 12) and three alternative schools - Noyo High School (continuation), Lighthouse Community Day School (grades 9 - 12) and Shelter Cove Community Day School (grades 4 - 8). FBUSD is nestled on the rugged northern California coastline. Comprised of approximately 1700 students, FBUSD is the second largest school district in Mendocino County.

The Community Schools Coordinator, under the direct supervision of the Superintendent, is responsible for facilitating the process of transforming a school into a full service community school. This person works in partnership with the school leaders, district leadership, and community partners to assess the school community's needs and assets, ensure efficient coordination of student and family support services, and support the creation of a learning environment that focuses on student achievement and wellness. This is a grant funded position and is contingent on continued funding through the grant.

Required Qualifications: (Education and Experience)• Bachelor degree required.• Two years of experience in one or more major student/family support areas, e.g. academic support, mental health, afterschool, youth development, family support or leadership development.• Ability to understand and manage grant project budgets.Desired Qualifications:• Experience in coordination and/or management/administration in an educational, non-profit and/or human services setting.• Strong interpersonal and supervisory skills, with a diverse workforce.• A high degree of cultural awareness and competency in cross-cultural practice with children and families.• Experience in collaboration, meeting facilitation, problem-solving and team building.• Experience with school-based service delivery.• Strong written and verbal communication skills.• Organizational skills; solid knowledge of Microsoft and Google applications.• Ability to work flexible hours (evenings, weekends).• Fluent (both oral and written) in English and Spanish is preferred.

Responsibilities: 1. Leadership • Provide leadership for school improvement through coordination and integration of a community school model, focusing on deepening partnerships and increasing access to programming and services in order to facilitate dramatic improvements in student academic, socioemotional, and physical health outcomes.

The four main areas of community school work involve: coordination of services, extended learning, community and engagement, and comprehensive behavioral health/wellness. • Work with school administrators, extended learning leadership, teachers, community-based organizations, families, and students to identify barriers to learning, available resources and gaps, and programming that is community responsive during regular school year and summer school. • Design, develop and coordinate special community school projects in partnership with Principals, Family Liaisons, and District leadership. Assist with program monitoring and evaluation including data collection, analysis and reporting. • Participate in school climate conversations, committees, and activities. This will include but is not limited to managing a calendar of activities that contribute to a positive, safe, and inclusive school culture and ensure information sharing and frequent communication. • Where applicable, direct, supervise, and evaluate the Family Liaisons.

2.Student/Family Support Service Design and Coordination • Facilitate the engagement of all educational partners (students, families, staff, and broader community) in school wide improvement strategies and the development expertise in community school strategies. • Collaborate with community partners, Family Liaisons, Principals, and district leaders to build families' academic, socioemotional, and self-advocacy skills. • Plan, assist, and engage in community outreach events that increase exposure to and awareness of school and community resources. • Facilitate connections between families and community partnerships. Assist families in engaging with community partners. 3.

Partnership Development • Support programmatic direction and coordination with community partners' student and family support service personnel in alignment with the school's academic and community goals. • Develop and sustain partnerships with city and county services and non-profit agencies to provide support and opportunities to students and families that meet their identified needs. • Design protocols to manage and maintain quality partnerships, including, but not limited to: development of MOUs, facilitation of regular meetings, planning sessions, joint work plans and conflict resolution processes. • Identify strategic new partnerships with the surrounding community. This will include developing relationships with local community members, colleges, and businesses. • Develop relevant and ongoing strategies for disseminating information on community resources and benefits to families, students, and community partners.
