St. Peter's Health Partners (Community Health Programs) is currently accepting applications for a full-time Community Relations Liaison for a vacancy based in Troy, NY. As part of a team of public health professionals, the community relations liaison will actively engage with clinical providers and community-based stakeholders to advance the treatment of tobacco dependence, particularly focusing on strategies for people who are at increased/higher risk for tobacco use.

As the point person for our initiatives to help adult patients quit smoking, the community relations liaison will work with healthcare providers (medical and behavioral); community organizations, local health departments, academic institutions, and others to improve health outcomes.

Position Overview:

The community relations liaison will plan and execute a range of community-based outreach initiatives. In this role, s/he will:

  • Work directly with healthcare providers and community-based organizations in the Greater Capital Region to provide guidance and technical assistance, policy development, quality improvement, needs assessment, and customized trainings on best practices for the treatment of tobacco use in the clinical setting

  • Respond in a timely, concise, and intelligible fashion to inquiries from providers, local elected officials, collaborating partners, and community stakeholders as part of the department's day-to-day operations

  • Disseminate public health information to members of the community and other interested parties

  • Advance policy and processes to close the racial equity gap for priority health outcomes

Our preferred candidate will be a motivated self-starter who is detailed-oriented, proficient in a fast-paced, changing environment and comfortable working in a cross-interdisciplinary team environment.

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor's degree in community/public health, health education or similar field is required. A Master's degree and experience working with healthcare/behavioral health providers is preferred.

  • Prior experience with tobacco cessation treatment is a plus but is not required.

  • A valid NYS driver's license and reliable transportation is a must.

Responsibilities and Preferred Skills

  • Ability to relate to and engage with diverse groups.

  • Experience working on policy development and quality improvement.

  • Availability to work an occasional evening or weekend.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills.

  • Some travel throughout our catchment area.

Location and Logistics

  • While the position is 40 hours a week, based in Troy NY on the St. Mary's Campus of Samaritan Hospital, we offer a flexible remote arrangement.

  • The position is 100% grant funded.

Pay Range:$25.00 - $30.00

Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
