Unit Description

Sodexo Stop Hunger team seeks dynamic, self-starter to focus on social media, marketing, communications and program support for Sodexo's Stop Hunger efforts in the U.S. The Community Relations Coordinator position will be located in our corporate office in Gaithersburg, MD.

This position is an excellent opportunity to experience various aspects of communications while working for a well-known organization.

Childhood hunger is a problem too big for one organization to solve alone. Stop Hunger mobilizes volunteers, including Sodexo employees, clients, customers, vendors, youth leaders and carefully selected nonprofits to contribute to hunger-free communities around the world. During fiscal year 2018 in the U.S., Stop Hunger engaged 34,184 volunteers, distributed more than 3.6 million meals and raised almost $2.4 million. Globally, Stop Hunger actions took place in 42 countries. Together, we are powering toward a tomorrow that's free from childhood hunger.

This candidate will:

  • Support Stop Hunger programming, including but not limited to, Surplus Food Recovery, Backpack Food Programs, On-Campus Pantries, Feeding Our Future, Stop Hunger Servathon, Stop Hunger Food Drive, , etc.

  • Manage Stop Hunger's social media, including Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube accounts

  • Monitor digital media platforms to increase engagement and measure/evaluate communications

  • Work with Community Relations team to execute special events, including developing event communications, promoting the event and taking photographs during the event, and promoting on digital media

  • Be the Brand protector and ambassador for Stop Hunger and the Foundation

  • Partner with national non-profits

  • Work with internal teams, including website developers, graphic designers and external print vendors to field requests for marketing/print/digital collateral

  • Manage cause marketing materials

  • Review communications/collateral for Stop Hunger and ensuring all communications adhere to the organization's style guide

  • Organize and optimizes Stop Hunger photo library and photo releases

  • Gatekeeper of Stop Hunger data and key performance indicators

  • Website maintenance and content development for Intranet (Sodexo Net) and HelpStopHunger.org develops, edits, and transmits requests and ensures completion

  • Enhance storytelling, best practice documentation and sharing, and testimonials for Stop Hunger

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Suite products to include Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook as well as social media applications.

  • Experience with Adobe InDesign/Creative Suite a plus.

  • Attention to detail and organization needed

  • Community relations, corporate social responsibility, or non-profit experience would be a PLUS!

Position Summary

Coordinates and supports programs to promote good will by disseminating information to employees and helping to match local community NGOs to Sodexo units that align with the community relations programs. Plans, coordinates, and communicates projects with vendors, marketing and operations that support Sodexo's central focus of promoting employee engagement, the Sodexo brand, and departmental strategies.

Qualifications & Requirements

Basic Education Requirement

  • Associate's Degree Basic Functional Experience

  • 2 years of experience working in a corporate environment

Work of the class involves varied building cleaning duties and related facilities and grounds maintenance work. Employees receive on the job training in the application of simple manual skill and use of cleaning and grounds tools and equipment, and supplies to clean interior of buildings and maintain grounds. Nature of work is repetitive and requires sustained physical effort and involves some heavy work in moving or lifting furniture and equipment with some exposure to accident and injury hazards and disagreeable elements. Employees in positions assigned to community use of schools work must possess the appropriate certificate for checking or operating heating, ventilating, and air conditioning equipment. Employees must work on Saturdays and Sundays to facilitate ICB use of MCPS facilities by user groups. Maintains security of school building during assigned weekend shifts. Employees in these classes are considered emergency personnel and are required to report to buildings during inclement weather. CERTIFICATE LICENSE: Must be able to obtain a boiler certificate indicating proficiency in the safe operation of low pressure boilers. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES: Knowledge of the methods, materials and practices of building and grounds work; ability to operate and maintain custodial and grounds care equipment; ability to secure a current valid boiler operation certificate and license and to satisfactorily complete in-service training required for this classification; uses personal protective equipment and other safety tools and practices; monitors building spaces and grounds to ensure a safe and secure environment; possesses a basic knowledge of emergency response procedures. Knowledge of and the ability to meet the seven core competencies of the Supporting Services Professional Growth System (SSPGS). EDUCATION, TRAINING, and EXPERIENCE: Completion of the ninth grade required. High School or GED diploma preferred. Experience in general cleaning of buildings and grounds. Other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience which provide the knowledge, abilities and skills necessary to perform effectively in the position may be considered.
