Job Description:

SUNY Maritime College, located in Throggs Neck (Bronx) New York, is looking for professional, certified, and responsible instructors to teach Waterfront Community Programs, including: Safe Powerboat Handling, Boating Safety Courses, private and group powerboat lessons, for evening and weekend programs, both at the college and at off-site locations, as arranged.

Responsibilities

  • Teach US Powerboating, NY State Safe Boating, and/or assigned curriculum to waterfront community programs students, including both on-the-water and classroom components

  • Help ensure a safe, fun learning environment

  • Prepare, maintain and properly clean and stow all equipment

  • Perform all other duties as assigned by Waterfront Directors

Requirements:

Required Qualifications

  • Superior powerboat handling skills
  • US Powerboating Safe Powerboat Handling Certification
  • Teaching or instructional experience

  • Passion for and experience working with students within the marine environment

  • Ability to work well with others as a collaborative team player and take initiative as a leader

  • Current CPR and First Aid Certification

Preferred Qualifications

  • US Powerboating Safe Powerboat Handling Instructor Certification
  • USCG Launch Tender License or higher

Additional Information:

Compensation

$50/hr - $75/hr

Schedule:

Daytime, evening and weekend courses, as scheduled.
