Community Planning and Education VISTA

The mission of West Central Alabama Area Health Education Center (AHEC) is to enhance access to quality health care, particularly primary and preventive care, by improving the supply and distribution of healthcare professionals in underserved Alabama communities through community/academic educational partnerships. The VISTA will help to strengthen county and community efforts to address public health challenges that affect the Blackbelt community. Member Duties : The VISTA will provide culturally and linguistically appropriate education to improve family members, caregivers, and the public's understanding of evidence-based treatments and prevention strategies for Substance Use Disorder/Opioid Use Disorders and to eliminate the stigma associated with the disease. They will implement a comprehensive plan to recruit, engage, and train individuals in recovery to become Certified Peer Recovery Supporters and community health workers.

They will also assist with various programs associated with the organization. We will be onboarding members on August 1st & 15th

Interpersonal Skills Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for the purpose of first-level conflict resolution, building relationships, and soliciting cooperation. Discussions involve a higher degree of confidentiality and discretion, requiring diplomacy and tact in communication. Other Skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Relates well to others regardless of their background or personality. Strong organizational skills, ability to work independently and balance a variety of projects. VIEW JOBS Community Impact Position: Senior Vice President Community Impact Reports to: President & CEO Job Summary: The Senior VP leads our strategy and leads the organization's execution of an ambitious strategic plan which focuses UWCA's considerable resources on underserved communities in our six-county region. Serves as a member of the organizations Senior Management Team. The position oversees our community investments of almost $30 MM annually through both traditional member agency allocations and multiple strategic grant making processes as well as a robust collective impact strategy and data team.
