We are actively seeking a Community Outreach Educator.

The pay range for this position is $75,000 to $83,000/year (DOE)

Travel: up to 25%, Northern California

Location:Hybrid with remote opportunities based on location

Schedule: 40-hour week, five days per week, including some weekends and evenings required

JOB SUMMARY

Our preferred candidate would assist the Masonic Outreach Service Team (MOS) by managing and growing our volunteer Outreach Program, including case consultation, training volunteers, and mentoring interns.

The Community Outreach Educator is part of the Masonic Outreach Services Department (MOS), which helps keep elderly Masons and families safely living at home and in their communities. Services include case management, care planning, financial assistance, shared housing, and community resource information and referral.

The Community Outreach Educator manages the Lodge Outreach program for northern California, which trains volunteers on conducting outreach efforts in their communities and how to help those in need access the many relief programs offered by Masonic Home.

This position is exempt and reports to the Manager of Outreach and Education.


About Us:

Masonic Homes operate two retirement homes, one in Union City and another in Covina. Additionally, Masonic Homes offer outreach and youth programs that support hundreds of families, both with and without Masonic affiliation.

Located 40 miles east of San Francisco, atop 267 acres of scenic property, the Masonic Home at Union City offers panoramic views and a moderate climate.

The campus offers independent living, assisted living, skilled nursing, memory care, and onsite post-surgical rehabilitation. Its gated grounds are home to about 300 residents who live in a comfortable studio or one-bedroom apartments. Residents enjoy multiple health and wellness centers, walking trails, activity areas, comfortable indoor and outdoor areas for small or large groups, a lodge room, and a worship center.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Fulfills regular speaking engagements at Lodges and Masonic events in Northern CA, including Lodge Outreach trainings and meetings, Lodge meetings, Leadership retreats, to increase awareness of the Masonic Homes and their Relief programs: Masonic Assistance line, Masonic Outreach Services and Masonic Center for Youth and Families.
  • Becomes knowledgeable about programs and present existing presentations effectively.
  • Attends Leadership Retreats annually and staff Lodge Outreach booth for designated region
  • Meets and engages with existing MOS relationships within assigned divisions. Maintains partnerships with existing resources in assigned region.
  • Effectively communicates with team and Lodge Outreach members in ways that maintain relationships which support the mission of Lodge Outreach.
  • Develops training materials and curriculum to educate Masons and others engaged in Lodge Outreach about Masonic relief and outside assistance programs, from Veterans Aid & Attendance to Medi-Cal, so they may share information with Members and families in distress.
  • Supports and guides individual Lodges and area Masons engaged in regional Lodge Outreach efforts. Collaborates on site specific interventions, helping Lodges effectively address the concerns and meet the needs of their constituents.
  • Connects with local School of Social Work partners to become a Certified Field Instructor through their program. Learns the existing Masonic Homes Social Work internship program. Works with Care Managers to thoughtfully build intern caseloads. Successfully manages School’s requirements with the MH program demands.
  • Serve as Preceptor/Field Supervisor for MSW interns, supporting their development as the next generation of social workers through their work with Masonic Homes and programs. Also, completing additional Field Supervisor Training.
  • Implements the execution of the Lodge Outreach Roll-Out Plan and develop subsequent objectives for further Lodge Outreach Program expansion and development.
  • Collaborates on metrics for program evaluation and tracking the success of training efforts, with regular reporting to the Manager and those participating in Lodge Outreach.
  • Develops effective audiovisual and social media materials: PowerPoint and webinars, video and web content, for training purposes and peer support.
  • Learns and understands the basic functionality and purpose of the Breezie tablet program. Implements existing program, successfully guides group sessions, and guides interns through similar tasks.
  • Supports the efforts to train new staff by shadowing training meetings/events.
  • In the absence of Manager of Outreach & Education, is able to effectively receive complaints or grievances and escalate them to another available manager.
  • Tracks and logs participation and activities in Salesforce database accurately and in a timely
  • manner.
  • Coordinates the ordering and creation, storage and transport of education and outreach materials with Masonic Outreach Services’ Office Managers in Covina and Union City.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

Requirements

SKILLS, ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE

  • Demonstrated experience as an effective and engaging speaker and trainer.
  • Ability to connect well with others, build positive relationships and work with multiple teams.
  • Background in managing, mentoring or training staff in social service settings.
  • Possess working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including PowerPoint and other presentation software. Proficiency picking-up use of other software; specifically, Salesforce.
  • Must be creative and self-motivated, customer service oriented and with an understanding of complex issues facing older adults and families.
  • Proven capability and background in creating processes to ensure high quality training, across multiple venues, including social media platforms.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS/LICENSES/CERTIFICATES

Any combination of education and experience that would provide the necessary knowledge and abilities listed, typically:

  • Masters’ degree in Social Work, at least 2 years post-graduate
  • Two or more years of post-graduate work in case management or community outreach, program development or training. Geriatric, group facilitation, and education experience preferred.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid California driver’s license without restrictions, willingness to travel throughout the State in automobile and/or airplane, with some overnight stays.
