Community Outreach Coordinator Hands

Family & Children's Place of Louisville, KY is looking to hire a full-time HANDS Community Outreach Coordinator to provide family services to expectant parents or parents of newborns. Do you want a job that provides meaningful work?

This family services position earns a competitive wage of $18.00 - $20. A retention bonus of $100 is paid after 90 days and $200 at one year.

If you have language skills, you receive a language stipend of $1000 quarterly as well. ABOUT HANDS

The Kentucky Health Access Nurturing Development Services (HANDS) program is a voluntary home visitation program for any new or expectant parents. HANDS supports families as they build healthy, safe environments for the optimal growth and development of children. The main goals of HANDS is to ensure healthy pregnancies and births, child growth and development, safe homes, and self sufficient families.

HANDS supports families throughout their pregnancy and the first two years of the baby's life. Families meet with a HANDS parent visitor who can answer questions and address concerns about pregnancy or baby's first years.

All families receive information and learn about resources available in the community for new parents. Some families receive further support through home visitation.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A COMMUNITY OUTREACH COORDINATOR

As a representative of the HANDS program you will offer services to eligible clients by providing information and referrals to community resources. You will conduct visits to OBGYN & pediatrician clinics and hospitals including visits to Labor and Delivery and ante-partum floors to offer new and expectant parents HANDS' services.

Extensive local travel is required for this position with some of the time in the office but most spent in hospitals, health clinics and community health fairs and events. Incumbents must have the ability to maintain a flexible work schedule, usually during the work day.

If you are comfortable on the phone in scheduling visits and working with diverse clients and in using and scheduling interpreter services, then this is the job for you. With these skills you will enjoy having a job where you get to make a difference in the lives of those you work with!

QUALIFICATIONS FOR A COMMUNITY OUTREACH COORDINATOR

• Poise and comfort level in meeting new people and in serving diverse clients at this important but vulnerable time in the family's life.

• Bi-lingual/Spanish speaking skills are preferred but not required.

• High school graduate or GED.

• Prefer associate's degree in social science, human services or related field AND one year experience working with families, children and infants. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.

WORK SCHEDULE FOR A COMMUNITY OUTREACH COORDINATOR

This full-time marketing/social work position works a flexible schedule. There may be some weekend and evening hours due to community events but this position mostly consists of normal daytime hours.
