Community Occupational Therapist works as a part of a multidisciplinary team delivering services to clients both adults and children with a mental illness in the community or at a BH program. Facilitates the learning of pre-vocational, cognitive, sensorimotor, independent living skills, and social skills to restore or improve the clients level of functioning.
Primary duties include assessing client's functional deficits, developing treatment interventions, coordinating care with other team members, assisting client's to increase community integration and use of community resources and contributing information for the annual assessment and treatment plan. Supervises Occupational Therapy students.
Bachelor's degree and graduation from an accredited Occupational Therapy program required. Current or provisional Missouri license in Occupational Therapy and National Board Certification is required.
Verbal and written communication skills required to discuss and document treatment programs and work issues. Prefer good time management and self-motivation skills. Position also requires the physical ability to teach and demonstrate skill building, high-level coordination and gross/fine motor skills, etc. Needs to be able to maintain a professional and empathetic demeanor with all clients.
Master's degree with two years of Occupational Therapist experience
