Community Occupational Therapist works as a part of a multidisciplinary team delivering services to clients both adults and children with a mental illness in the community or at a BH program. Facilitates the learning of pre-vocational, cognitive, sensorimotor, independent living skills, and social skills to restore or improve the clients level of functioning.

Primary duties include assessing client's functional deficits, developing treatment interventions, coordinating care with other team members, assisting client's to increase community integration and use of community resources and contributing information for the annual assessment and treatment plan. Supervises Occupational Therapy students.

Required Skills

Bachelor's degree and graduation from an accredited Occupational Therapy program required. Current or provisional Missouri license in Occupational Therapy and National Board Certification is required.

Verbal and written communication skills required to discuss and document treatment programs and work issues. Prefer good time management and self-motivation skills. Position also requires the physical ability to teach and demonstrate skill building, high-level coordination and gross/fine motor skills, etc. Needs to be able to maintain a professional and empathetic demeanor with all clients.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree with two years of Occupational Therapist experience

Job Summary: Assists in development, markets, and delivers low vision services to patients who have limitations in performance of activities of daily living because of a significant visual impairment Essential Functions: * Work with LVS Manager to ensure LVS are marketed effectively to all community constituents. * Receives referrals from ophthalmologists, optometrists, primary care physicians, and other sources for low vision rehabilitation. * Evaluates the clients functional vision and activities of daily living skills * Develops plan of care with client * Provides training in adaptive techniques and equipment to increase clients independence * Completes all necessary documentation to meet Medicare, NAC, and ISO requirements including evaluation reports, plan of care, progress reports, discharge reports, and daily OT notes. * Manages provider participation with various insurance companies * Speaks at presentations concerning major causes of vision impairment in senior adults and Alphapointe services * Assists in program design and preparation of agency literature concerning senior adult services. * Assists with monthly report to the Director of Rehabilitation and Education that includes numbers served and anticipated revenue. * Collaborates with other community agencies and makes referrals as needed. * Acts as back up to Low Vision Services Manager, when absent. Additional Functions: * Maintain licensure in both KS & MO * Supervises OT and OTA students as needed * Performs other duties as assigned. Knowledge and Skill Requirements: * Minimum of a Bachelors degree required in Occupational Therapy, Masters degree preferred. * Required 1 year of responsible direct client contact in Occupational Therapy. * Preferred experience includes working with senior adults and/or visually impaired clients Working Conditions: * Considerable local travel.
