VIEW JOBS 1/15/2020 12:00:00 AM 2020-04-14T00:00 Community Manager Gap Year | Full-Time | Associate Level | Marketing Boston, MA, United States EF Gap Year (a division of EF Education First) is seeking a passionate, dynamic, and creative Community Manager with loads of entrepreneurial spirit to join our Boston-based marketing team. In this very hands-on role, you'll be responsible for cultivating, engaging, and owning the community spaces for prospective, current, and future EF Gap Year students. Every day you'll collaborate with the creative, marketing, sales, and advisor teams – as well as peers across the organization – finding new and innovative ways to build and grow a vibrant group of people who are passionate about the gap year experience, both online and in person. You'll monitor our social media spaces (and social media in general), helping to answer customer questions and build excitement around the gap year program. You'll work with our existing EF Gap Year students, helping them tell and share the stories of their year, as they travel and learn around the world – working to turn some of those students into ambassadors and supporting them as they take over our branded social media channels. You'll regularly brainstorm new engagement ideas with the team, turning those ideas into smart strategies and those smart strategies into actionable plans that you'll then roll up your sleeves to execute. And you'll be the team's go-to person for all things community – enthusiastically taking on any challenge that comes your way, and willing to "go figure it out and make it happen" whenever you encounter something you haven't done before Nodding your head "yes" to all of this? Then read on… The opportunity: Every day, each member of small-but-mighty EF Gap Year team comes to work in the best-looking office building in Boston (if we do say so ourselves). It's a modern, inspiring environment where we get to work with incredibly talented, energetic coworkers who are dedicated to helping as many students as possible see the world and learn more about themselves in the process. That's a pretty rewarding way to spend your days. So, what will you do, specifically? * Own and manage our EF Gap Year social media channels: engaging the community, and responding to customer comments, questions, and needs * Support and encourage our students - helping them find new and exciting ways to capture and tell the story of their years online * Help orchestrate social media takeovers – identifying, screening and managing the students who will tell their stories through our branded channels * Concept and create content that keeps prospective, current, and former students engaged and active in the EF Gap Year community * Work with our Sales, Marketing, and Advisor teams to build out and support an EF Gap Year ambassador program * Organize and assist with offline events that engage and grow the gap year community * Brainstorm new campaign and engagement ideas that will help drive interest in the EF Gap Year program * Be responsible for the overall health and vibrance of the community – bridging the online (e.g. social media) and offline (e.g. events) experiences that we create The ideal candidate will have: * 2-4 Years of experience managing customer active customer communities * Legitimate, hands-on, practical experience managing brand social media presences * Experience creating compelling blog, social media, video, and other online content * Outstanding interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills * Some experience planning and/or managing event logistics * A "can-do" attitude and a willingness to seek answers and push past obstacles * An ability to generate ideas and work independently * A desire to work in a small entrepreneurial team environment * Bonus points if you've done a Gap Year or long-term study-abroad program yourself! Let's talk about the perks We believe that happy people do great work. What makes us happy? Things like: * The opportunity to travel internationally with our customers (and without, too) * Three weeks paid vacation your first year, and four weeks after your first year * Free in-house language classes * Free in-house workout classes * A bar and restaurant inside our building * Discounts on EF products, including our travel and language programs * Market-leading benefits package including top of the line health coverage, 401k with company match, and more A tiny bit about EF Education First The company is still owned by the same family that founded it more than 50 years ago. Since then, EF has grown to more than 46,000 teachers and staff in over 500 schools and offices in over 50 countries. Sounds enormous, right? The interesting thing is that we don't operate like a conglomerate. We get the best of a small company's values, atmosphere, and energy with the resources of a big one. And in the creative and marketing department, we get the autonomy to innovate coupled with the backing and support of a company that's able to bring those innovations to life. Talk about a great place to work—no wonder we've been right at the top (#1 and #2 to be exact) of the Boston Globe's Top Places to Work list the last 2 years. Education First Cambridge MA
