Program Specialist III

Under the direction of the PIET Manager, the Community Engagement Liaison (Program Specialist III) performs complex (journey-level) administrative and technical assistance work to assist in coordinating meetings, grant reporting, and communication. Work involves planning, developing and implementing vaccine initiatives, and providing consultative services and technical assistance related to communication and outreach needs. Works under general supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Essential Job Functions:

  • Attends work on a regular and predictable schedule in accordance with agency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned.
  • (30%) Acts as an Immunization communications liaison, working to assist with local outreach coordination, grant oversight and the development of procedures, forms, templates, manuals and other regional outreach and communication resources. May create, manage, and update templates, forms and other documentation related to community-based grant program.
  • (20%) Provides some support services such as running reports, tracking projects and other administrative functions. Works closely with others to produce quarterly reports highlighting community engagement projects in each region. Maintains a calendar of regional outreach activities, including community events, workshops, appearances, and other communication opportunities.
  • (20%) Assists with developing and distributing vaccine-related community engagement resources. Works with regional contacts to identify gaps with messaging.
  • (15%) Assists with the collection and analysis of regional and community-based organization grant reports. Assists in coordination of on-site grantee evaluations.
  • (10%) Assist in the coordination of meetings and trainings for public health regions, local health departments and community-based organizations.
  • (5%) Other duties as assigned include but are not limited to actively participating and/or serving in a supporting role to meet the agency's obligations for disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation. Such participation may require an alternate shift pattern assignment and/or location.

  • Skill in developing and managing reports, templates and processes.

  • Skill in Microsoft Office products, extensive use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Visio and Lifecycle.

  • Skill in preparing reports, manuals, and technical information.

  • Skill in editing reports and/or correspondences.

  • Skill in composing clear and concise reports and/or correspondences.

  • Skill in presentation development and delivery.

  • Ability to perform and interpret qualitative and quantitative data.

  • Ability to develop solutions to problems.

  • Ability to communicate effectively and persuasively both orally and in writing.

  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

  • Ability to work with diverse parties to gather needed information and to maintain good working relationships.

Initial Screening Criteria: • Bachelor's Degree in Communications, English, or related field required.

  • Experience in public health, public promotion and education, and/or immunizations preferred.

  • Experience in public engagement/community outreach preferred.
