Sandalphon’s Heart and Home is searching for a Community Liaison to advocating for our program and youth residents. Individuals who love speaking with different kinds of people and making a difference in the lives of others at the grassroots level will thrive in this role. During their workday, community liaisons normally split their time between offices and traveling to meet with individuals in the local community. We want someone who is spunky, charismatic, engaging, lively, enthusiastic and kind.

Community Liaison Duties and


• Represent the organization professionally when engaging with the greater community, including media.
• Attend residents’ Circle of Support meetings, annual individual Program Plan meetings, and other relevant meetings.
• Regularly coordinate and attend activities, social functions and resident meetings to foster community and empower residents. Case Management Practices
• Collaborate with Angel Care Youth Coaches about case/client updates
• Follow the organization case management practices illustrated in the SHH training manual.
Serve as a Point of Contact

The community liaison is a personal contact for our clients or customers. They help orient people with new programs. You will make phone calls and home visits to troubled youth and their families (if applicable) or youth that have graduated from our program and are either emancipated or engaged in after care. You will meet with clients individually and offer them advice or provide referrals to services. Reinitiating contact with employees, community members, or clients that need follow-up is another key responsibility.

Connect Special Populations with Services

You will work with healthcare agencies that cater to the needs of our special population. You will provide help by connecting patients with long-term care. You will also connect special populations with government services or community support programs.

Hold Community Outreach Meetings

Community liaisons schedule outreach meetings with local community members to discover their issues and concerns. Following a community meeting, a liaison will often write reports to share insights with the Director of Operations and Team Lead. You will conduct further research and organize follow-up meetings with certain community leaders – like politicians, businessmen, police, doctors, and local neighborhood influencers – to spread our message and plan annual and quarterly networking parties and mixers.

Handle Marketing and Fundraising Activities

Promoting grassroots marketing initiatives is a key task for community liaisons. They perform marketing and sales-related functions such as hosting events, making presentations, and calling clients that are sponsors/partners or directly connected to our program. Your marketing activities will help develop strong and lasting relationships on behalf of SHH. You will also be assisting youth in creating their own fundraising activities and events.

Manage Community Public Relations

Interfacing with communities and openly representing our organization among pubic officials, businesses, other agencies, news outlets, and the general public is another responsibility of community liaisons. You will also take charge of planning, preparing, and distributing written press releases. Overall, a community liaison’s goal is to increase public awareness of our organization’s activities in favorable way.

Community Liaison Skills and


Community liaisons have a passion for helping others and speaking with groups. We are typically seeking candidates with a minimum of two years’ experience conducting community outreach and coordination. The following skills are essential to getting the job done:

  • Community relation management – knowledge of a local community’s needs and the ability to interview others to get needed information are essential qualities
  • Conflict resolution – community liaisons are often responsible for identifying the root cause of disputes and using negation tactics to encourage resolution
  • Public speaking – community liaisons need strong public speaking skills to present at public and private meetings
  • Marketing – promotional skills are essential for community liaisons to effectively share their organization’s message with a local community
  • Interpersonal skills – a critical duty of community liaisons is building trusting and effective partnerships to facilitate engagement and outreach. To do this, you must be able to quickly relate with many different types of people
  • Administrative skills – it is common for community liaisons to perform general administrative duties as assigned
  • Writing skills – creating documentation and written reports is common for community liaisons

Community Liaison Education and Training

A bachelor’s degree or Associates degree or high school diploma and relevant experience. Related bachelor’s degrees for this field include sociology, political science, social work, or public administration.

The Senior Medical Science Liaison (SMSL) will represent Company, and its investigational opioid molecule being evaluated to provide analgesia, while reducing abuse potential for chronic low-back pain in adult patients. The Sr. MSL will function as a field-based extension of Company's Medical Affairs serving as a liaison between Key Opinion Leaders and Company in order to deliver comprehensive medical and scientific information in connection with Company's CNS products. The SMSL will act as a scientific expert, interacting on a peer-to-peer level with key opinion leaders (KOLs), researchers, payers and advocacy groups. The SMSL will deliver and discuss research data and new medical treatment concepts to key stakeholders affiliated with key institutions. The SMSL (acting as a Player-Coach) will have all the functional responsibilities of the MSLs outlined above and will also provide coaching and mentoring for MSL skills development and overall performance in coordination with the MSL Program Director. The MSL Player Coach will be responsible for a smaller geography due to added coaching responsibilities. Duties and Responsibilities * Identify KOLs and develop valuable long-term relationships by providing high-level scientific expertise and education on new advances in opioid pain management at the national, regional and local level * Facilitate opinion leader development and aid in the identification of areas of mutual interest and collaboration * Provide timely, accurate, specific and balanced responses to KOLs' requests for information * Maintain clinical, scientific, and technical expertise in the pain management therapeutic area. Identify, collect and communicate insights related to competitor medical information and physician practice trends. * Participate in scientific peer discussions including advisory panels, investigator meetings, and education programs and conventions * Work closely with Reimbursement and Managed Markets team to help educate the payer community on disease and treatment. * Have an understanding of and ability to operate within appropriate legal and regulatory guidelines. * Comply with company and industry guidelines in all activities and communication Additional Duties and Responsibilities Specific aspects of the role include, but may not be limited to: * Work closely with the MSL Director, proactively communicate team needs, and establish a positive and collaborative team culture. * Define, clarify and manage the regional team priorities while promoting collaboration within the team and with customers. * Implement routine visits with their regional MSL reports and ensure that goals/performance/ development plans are reviewed on a quarterly basis. * Ensure that their team is well-trained, clinically prepared and scientifically up-to-date on all key subjects related to company products, clinical trials and medical strategy. Qualifications * SR. MSL: PharmD, RPh, NP, MSN with strong pain management experience * Minimum of 5 years of MSL experience required, must have demonstrated management experience/responsibility * Pain management experience required * Some level of management or developmental experience required * Ability to understand and effectively communicate scientific/ medical information to the medical community * Demonstrated expertise in drug information communication; strong presentation skills. * Ability to build productive work relationships both internally and externally. * Excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills. * Working knowledge and understanding of FDA requirements and PhRMA guidelines. * Ability to travel up to 50% * Valid driver's license.
