The George Washington University (GWU), the sponsoring organization, is seeking Community Liaisons for DC Public Schools (DCPS) to serve as capacity builders in elementary and middle schools in Washington, D.C. With a strong record of developing reciprocal, respectful, active, and democratic partnerships, GWU works with the DCPS to place AmeriCorps VISTAs in under-resourced schools across the District.Key attributes for a successful Community Liaison for DCPS: Desire and ability to work effectively in an urban school environment with teachers, school administrators, parents, and students Ability to network and form relationships with community organizations Ability to create innovative solutions to address problems faced in under-resourced schools Ability to work independently, take initiative, and make a work plan Adaptability, flexibility, and willingness to learn from experience Strong written and verbal communication skills Experience volunteering, recruiting and managing volunteers and planning programming

VIEW JOBS 7/15/2018 12:00:00 AM 2018-10-13T00:00 With a strong record of developing reciprocal, respectful, active, and democratic partnerships, George Washington University (GWU) in downtown Washington DC is seeking a VISTA to serve as an Evaluation and Assessment Designer in the Office of Out-of-School-Time Programs (OSTP) in the District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS). The VISTA will increase the capacity of OSTP to measure and ensure afterschool program quality during the school year and summer by designing and creating activities and tools for program evaluation. The VISTA will work for one year with GWU and DCPS school staff and community members and will be able to build education-related knowledge and experience, and community development, data analysis, and communication skills. The year-long project term is somewhat variable, based on the start date, but will likely begin in July 2017. Key attributes of a successful Evaluation and Assessment VISTA include: • Knowledge and experience with data collection and data collection tools. • Ability to help others successfully use data collection tools. • Ability to work independently, take initiative and achieve goals. • Ability to generate user-friendly reports and recommendations based on data collection.
