LOCATION:Arleta, CA, Los Angeles

CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt

SALARY: $21.63 Hourly Rate

Community Liaison

The Community Liaison will be responsible for providing support to the Arleta recuperative care facility under the guidance of the Program Manager. Employee will be tasked with onsite security needs for the facility, to ensure a safe and secure environment for guests, employees and the surrounding community. Employee will be responsible for building strategic relationships within the Arleta community and surrounding neighborhoods, while establishing both positive and collaborative relationships between the organization, partners, and community members alike. This will include addressing various concerns that may transpire for both community partners and NHF. Employee will work closely with the Program Manager and Director of Recuperative Care, Arleta to triage and address any concerns that may arise from the community and internally, directly relating to security. The Community Liaison will be adept in conflict resolution strategies and techniques.

Responsibilities and Initiatives

To help NHF meet its growth goals, the Community Liaison will:

  • Collaborate with Arleta citizens to address concerns in tandem with appropriate members of the leadership team, including supervisors and management team members.
  • Flexible to collaborate with Community Initiatives to facilitate more citizen related issues, concerns and/or recommendation.
  • Attend various community-led events to represent NHF.
  • Clarify, discuss, and implement actions that expand NHF-Arleta community goals.
  • Perform routine inspections of specific areas throughout building, both internal and external.
  • Monitor property entrance and exits.
  • Authorize entrance of both person and vehicles.
  • Report any suspicious behaviors and occurrences in a timely and consistent manner.
  • Monitor surveillance cameras.
  • Provide appropriate guest intervention for challenging behaviors to support NHF staff.
  • Ensure employees have the proper identification and necessary clearances to access and enter site.
  • Refusal of unauthorized persons from entering site without appropriate clearances.
  • Issuance of visitor passes.
  • Perform bag checked for guest.
  • Must always maintain professional boundaries with all employees and community partners.
  • Educate staff on proper security procedures and requirements.
  • Communicate with Law enforcement about incidents when necessary and required and ensure local and federal compliance at all times are adhered to.
  • Greet employees, guests, and community partners.
  • Complete all of NHF required trainings to include but not limited to Trauma Informed Care, De-escalation, Crisis Prevention Intervention, Harm Reduction.
  • Assist staff with safe, smooth discharges and/transitions when necessary.
  • Project a positive professional image and adhere to organizational dress code.
  • Adapt to schedule changes to meet the needs of the facility.
  • Completes additional tasks as assign to meet the needs of the facility, notwithstanding primary duties.
  • Always follow NHF polices and procedures.

Requirements

  • High school diploma and 2 years in healthcare or related field.
  • Certification in Basic Security Training (BST) preferred, other qualifications as applicable.
  • Knowledgeable about conflict resolution techniques and strategies.
  • Some knowledge or experience working with elderly, mental health, and substance use disorders.
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Suite which includes Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Be comfortable speaking before crowds and panels.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA (preferred).
  • Must be person-centered and trauma informed.
  • Be comfortable in a fast-paced environment, 148-bed recuperative care facility. Ability to remain calm in escalated situations.
  • Bilingual in a language that is commonly spoken in Los Angeles, other than English. (Preferred, not required).
  • Reliable transportation
  • TB testing required.
  • Fingerprint live scan background required.

  • Is subject to frequent interruptions.
  • Must be able to read material and use a computer.
  • Must be able to hear well enough to communicate with co-workers

  • Climbing/Stooping/Kneeling.
