This position works Monday

  • Thursday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, 32 hours per week.

Your Specific Responsibilities:

Primary responsibilities of this Citrus County position will be providing care to prenatal clinic clients, but will include caring for clients seeking Family Planning, Sexually Transmitted Infections, Immunizations, and Communicable Disease (Tb, HIV, etc.) services.

Duties of the position include but are not limited to:

  • Patient assessment

  • Nursing interviews

  • Planning of patient care

  • Conducting point of care testing

  • Implementation of provider orders

  • Evaluation of response to treatment/medications

  • Maintain efficient clinic flow

  • Administration of medications and required pharmacy tracking

  • Ordering of clinic medications

  • Evaluate vaccination status of all clients and administration of recommended vaccinations

  • Education and counselling covering health lifestyle and healthy pregnancy behaviors

  • Serve as a patient advocate

  • Documentation of all information in the DOH electronic medical record (HMS)

  • Face to face and phone triage

  • Follow up and case management including but not limited to abnormal cancer screenings, labs and diagnostic studies for all clients, prenatal care client appointment attendance

  • Management and tracking of referrals for clients including but not limited to colposcopy, LEEP, sterilization, LARCs, and clients participating in the Florida Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program

  • Insuring and assisting with use of appropriate diagnosis codes

  • Obtaining authorizations from third party payors as needed

  • Maintenance of emergency medications and supplies including but no limited to daily lock checks, monthly inventory of medications and supplies, monitoring expiration dates, and ordering/replacing medications

  • Ordering of clinic medications

  • Issuance of medications per protocol

  • Collection and processing of specimens

  • Supervision and direction of professional and paraprofessional staff

  • Responding to patient questions and concerns via phone and in person

  • Investigation and contact tracing of communicable diseases

  • Orienting and mentoring new employees and students

  • Preparing reports

  • Scheduling appointments

  • Utilizing and maintain equipment

  • Cleaning/sterilizing work area and equipment

  • Replenishing stock

  • Participating in community events

  • Providing clinical expertise and information at community events

  • Assisting with quality improvement activities and chart reviews

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of problem-solving techniques

Knowledge of professional nursing and public health principles, practices, and techniques in specialized areas

Knowledge of normal pregnancy, routine prenatal care, and appropriate education for these clients

Knowledge of the theories and concepts of preventive health care

Knowledge of human anatomy and physiology

Knowledge of community resources

Knowledge of medical and/or public health field

Knowledge in use of medical equipment (glucometer, blood pressure monitoring devices, thermometer, scale, etc.)

Knowledge of multiple computer systems such as HMS, Florida Shots, Word, EXCEL, Outlook, SBAC Web-based Program etc.

Skilled in the application of nursing theory in specialized areas

Skilled in nursing assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation

Ability to solve problems.

Ability to follow instructions and take direction from management .

Ability to plan, organize, prioritize workload, and coordinate work assignments.

Ability to work independently and with a team.

Ability to work with participants having a variety of physical problems and/or health concerns.

Ability to organize and maintain filing systems.

Qualifications:

Minimum

  • This position requires licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in accordance with Chapter 464, Florida Statutes and in accordance with Rule 64B9, Florida Administrative Code, CPR certification, and valid driver's license.

Preferred Experience working in fast paced inpatient or outpatient environment serving pregnant women.
