Overview

The Community Health Educator will be responsible to conduct client outreach and facilitate small peer-led and non-peer-led groups. The Community Health Educator will recruit and engage populations at risk and their partners in Individual Level Interventions.

The Community Health Educator will recruit, screen and test individuals for HIV, HEP C, and STI's. The Community Health Educator will recruit and engage individuals and their partners on Opioid Overdose Education and Naloxone Enrollment and will assist the Program Manager or Assistant Program Manager with data collection and reporting.

Responsibilities

Provide direct client services including:Opioid overdose education & Naloxone trainings and enrollmentsHIV/ Viral Hepatitis / STI screening and TestingSyringe access and disposal

Referrals to health care, behavioral health care, recovery resources, social services, etc. Participate in the design and preparation of client outreach recruitment activities.Organize and plan weekly client outreach recruitment sessions.Conduct client outreach recruitment in high risk areas.Conduct Individual Level Interventions.Conduct Group Level Interventions.Plan and participate in community events.Collect data, maintain program records and submit reports.Attend project staff meetings.Co-facilitate small groups on Health promotion and disease prevention for high risk populations as deemed necessary.Communicate with community organizations and agencies about program activities.All other duties assigned by the supervisor, his/her superior or the designee of either party.

Qualifications

High School diploma

Knowledge/experience in Health Promotion and Disease Prevention services and substance use and abuse issues

Sound ability to work with all populations in an empathetic, comfortable and non-judgmental manner

Strong organizational skills

Ability to work as part of a team, take direction and remain flexible

Demonstrated skills in community education and organizing

Familiarity with health-related and social issues faced by high risk populations

Knowledge and experience providing educational outreach in public settings

Valid Driver's license, ability to drive and means of transportation

Travel to other cities and towns is required

VIEW JOBS 11/17/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-02-15T00:00 Job Description: TITLE: Communication Lab and Media Production Coordinator DEPT.: Social Sciences, Interdisciplinary Studies, and Online/Evening/Weekend Education UNIT: MCCC Professional Staff Grade: 3 REPORTS TO: Dean of Social Sciences, Interdisciplinary Studies, and Online/Evening/Weekend Education DATE: 11/16/2018 GENERAL SUMMARY: Assist faculty, staff and students by coordinating the Communication Department's media production lab spaces and equipment room, and producing internal media productions associated with the college under the supervision of the Dean of Social Sciences, Interdisciplinary Studies, and Online/Evening/Weekend Education, and in collaboration with the Department Chair of Communication and Dean of Marketing Communications. Supervise and coordinate the work of assigned students in the Communication Department's internship courses. Coordinate a variety of professional experiences and media production opportunities that complement coursework and allow students to build a professional body of work and employability skills. This position will be based primarily on the Bedford campus. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Lab and Equipment Scheduling & Maintenance * Maintain the communication department lab spaces in Bedford, including software and hardware. * Maintain equipment and storage area, including repairs. * Schedule use of the lab and equipment outside of class time. * Provide students with technical support outside of class meeting times. * Assist in the research, purchase, integration, and implementation of media production equipment and classroom technologies. Media Production Coordination & Support * Work with Marketing Communications Department and administrators to produce media content for MCC's website, social media platforms, community events, and other areas of communication where media can be incorporated. * Responsible for conceptualizing, coordinating, writing, shooting, editing, and delivering videos and other media content for MCC. * Develop and implement best practices for media production workflow and operations. * Recruit, hire, train, and coordinate all student interns in the Communication Department * Participate in professional development activities to maintain and enhance professional skills and maintain knowledge base of best practices in the field. Perform related duties as directed. This position requires some evening and weekend hours. WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Tasks require the ability to exert very moderate physical effort and may involve some lifting objects (media production equipment) of moderate weight.
