Position Summary

The community health unit data specialist is responsible for collecting and analyzing data from police reports related to mental health. The community health unit data specialist will conduct various administrative functions, including data mining, entry and dissemination, building and maintaining data for the community health unit SharePoint site, creating reports for internal and public dissemination and special projects as directed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Daily review of community health related case referrals

  • Run DAM reports daily for community health cases

  • Import cases into Access to code referrals

  • Enter case referrals into SharePoint

  • Search for relevant information in a variety of databases

  • Complete a threat assessment of all referrals through coding and analysis

  • Upload data into Power BI for ready access to information

  • Create Microsoft Forms as needed

  • Work with Microsoft Power Apps

  • Produce subject bulletins as required

  • Interface with both law enforcement and Hennepin County embedded social workers

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and projects

  • Other duties as assigned or apparent

Minimum and Desired Qualifications

Education

Associate degree (preferably with criminal justice, psychology or related studies)

Experience

Previous related experience, which includes:

  • Experience with Microsoft Office programs and applications and ability to navigate a records management system

  • Statistical analysis

Equivalency

An equivalent combination of education and experience closely related to the duties of the position MAY be considered.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Experience with Microsoft Office programs, including Access, Excel, and Outlook

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team-based environment

  • Ability to use discretion and handle sensitive information appropriately

  • Ability to relate to and work with individuals representing a variety of diverse backgrounds and cultures

  • Ability to professionally exhibit cultural sensitivity, patience and understanding in the course of work duties

  • Ability to provide a level of customer service that meets or exceeds customer expectation andsatisfaction

  • Ability to relate and work effectively with people from diverse cultural, socioeconomic, racial and ethnic backgrounds

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in psychology, criminal justice, behavioral health, human services, sociology, social work or statistics and analysis

  • Experience with Microsoft Excel

  • Experience with Microsoft Power Apps

  • Experience with Power BI

  • Experience with SharePoint

  • Experience with New World (LERMS)

  • Previous experience working with people from various cultural, socioeconomic, racial and ethnic backgrounds

Additional Information

Anticipated Work Schedule:

Position is a full-time, non-exempt, non-sworn position that will work a flex schedule Monday through Friday, with the possibility of working evenings/weekends as needed.

Anticipated Hiring Wage:

$25.83 - 33.20 per hour, depending on qualifications, with a full-time employment benefit package.
