Job Summary
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS The Community Garden Coordinator (CGC) will be responsible for helping launch and oversee all aspects of the Aspen Community Garden. The CGC supports the Aspen Garden leadership team in project management, research, data analysis, meeting facilitation, record keeping, and working with staff, students, and community partners. The CGC will bring strong communication, time-management, and organizational skills and the ability to work collaboratively with nonprofit professionals, residents, businesses, funders, community partners, and others from diverse backgrounds. The role includes but is not limited to:
All administrative tasks relating to planning the logistics of the garden, community gatherings, leadership meetings, and communication
Organizing student leaders who participate in the Community Garden process and communicating with students who use the garden as part of their classwork
Recruiting, organizing, and following up with residents/volunteers from the school, neighborhoods, and partners
Seeking out new partnerships to raise funds and resources for the garden to be sustainable over time
Work with the school maintenance team on tasks related to the garden as needed
Plan and lead community garden meetings in partnership with the leadership team
Lead and/or arrange learning opportunities related to education on gardening, agriculture, plant science, and environmental justice
Work in collaboration with the Aspen team to ensure the garden budget is sustainable, maintain accurate records of finances
Plan and supervise special events as needed
Train participants on garden rules, compost, and any other necessary elements.
Support the Community Schools Advisory Council and the Community Schools
Coordinator or Site Director/Principal as needed.
May be asked to assist in supporting other duties as assigned, based on your sites need. Education and Skills
