The Facilities Department at the University of North Texas Health Science Center is seeking to hire a Community Garden Administrative Associate - Hourly to join our team. Responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to:

  • Communicates directly with the gardeners about issues, concerns, general questions, etc., answers general inquiries about the garden from both our campus and external communities, and orients new gardeners and volunteers.

  • Creates, organizes, and updates community garden files and logs.

  • Coordinates special garden events such as Harvest Days (harvesting food to donate to food banks), Planting Days (educational events for gardeners to learn and plant together), Work Days (events dedicated to garden maintenance), and other educational and volunteer opportunities.

  • Collaborates with other departments and organizations both on and off campus as it aligns with the mission and purpose of the garden.

  • Conducts routine inspections of the plots and garden space and works to resolve issues.

  • Performs general routine maintenance of the garden such as picking up trash, gardening abandoned or empty plots until a new gardener can be assigned, and organizing the tool shed.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.

  • Extensive gardening experience including organic gardening and pest management knowledge.

  • Good communication and writing skills.

  • Must have the ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.

The Administrative Associate Support position within the Office of the Registrar will be expected to perform a variety of functions. Those functions include serving as the first point of contact to both internal and external visitors of the division and providing exceptional administrative support. Responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to: * Serving as the first point of contact for the division and receiving visitors at the front desk by greeting, welcoming, directing, and announcing them appropriately. * Answer incoming phone calls, emails, and in-person inquiries for the Office of the Registrar and the Division of Student Affairs. * Manage/update calendars and schedule meetings. * Handles confidential information with tact, discretion and in compliance with FERPA regulations. * Assist the Office of the Registrar with special projects and events. * Monitor visitor access and maintain security awareness. * Ability to exercise good judgment in making various decisions related to departmental functions. * Ability to effectively work with colleagues and students by practicing punctuality, collaborative problem solving, and honest communication. * Create and maintain positive and collegial working relationships with all internal and external stakeholders as well as UNTHSC departments. * Perform other duties as assigned.
