Community Food Initiatives Healthy Food Vista

Americorps Columbus , OH 43216

Posted 2 months ago

Community Food Initiatives (CFI) is the only organization in the area routinely donating thousands of pounds of local produce to food pantries, managing community and school gardens plots, and offering gardening and cooking workshops to adults. Community drives our work; these programs come together to build resilience through empowering citizens to grow and cook their own healthy, whole foods, in spite of poverty barriers.

This VISTA will build our capacity to increase healthy food access to low-income individuals. The VISTA will focus on the following during 2019-2020: Research volunteer resources, develop and implement volunteer training, grow CFI's volunteer base for food access programming, and create living documents to track food access volunteers.

Our VISTA will also write grants and research and plan revenue generation strategies to support and improve sustainability of food access programming; research best practices and develop public relations and marketing operation manuals for the Board PR Committee; and research development and design methods to monetize social benefit of CFI's work. Finally, the VISTA will develop strategies to increase collaboration with network partners and assist with development and promotion of CFI branded food access curriculum.
