Job Description:

Responsible for coordinating and implementing community outreach campaigns, workshops, forums, or other events. Incorporates traditional, social media and other digital marketing techniques to achieve high level integration across all channels. Coordinates all aspects of event management including planning, staging, logistics, promotions and vendors. Enhances the Sentara brand through reputation building with community leaders, legislators and other key influencers. Identifies key community offerings, opportunities and events where the company should be represented. Assists in identifying opportunities for key memberships, sponsorships and grant giving associated with corporate social responsibility. Assists in the administration of the funding for these opportunities. Represents the company at key events emphasizing those that are healthcare related, corporate social responsibility focused, community oriented and/or demonstrating the healthcare economic impact in communities. Keeps abreast of industry trends, community assessments and developments in our community. Serves in this capacity system wide for the company.

Sentara Healthcare's Customer Development and Marketing Department is hiring a full time Community Engagement Specialist.

Position Overview

  • Position interacts as a conduit between Sentara and community leaders, legislators, and other key influencers.

  • Responsible for planning, coordinating and implementing community outreach campaigns and key events, workshops, forums, and other events where company should be represented

  • Keeps abreast of industry trends, community assessments and developments in our community and legislative relations

  • Assists in identifying opportunities for key memberships, sponsorships and grant giving associated with corporate social responsibility. Assists in the administration of the funding for these opportunities.

  • Incorporates traditional, social media and other digital marketing techniques to achieve high level integration across all channels.

  • Serves in this capacity system-wide for the company (SOME TRAVEL REQUIRED).

Education and Experience

  • Education: Bachelors Level Degree

  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in community outreach and engagement, public relations, and developing and hosting community events

  • Skills for Success: Previous experience working with legislators and local, state, and elected officials
