Responsibilities
The Community Engagement Specialist is an entry-level professional position in which incumbents facilitate collaboration and communication between residents, neighborhood associations, community institutions and the City organization to ensure implementation of community development programs and initiatives. Incumbents are required to develop in-depth knowledge within their assigned area of responsibility, analyze and maintain all data and information for projects and programs, and provide periodic and annual progress reports.
Must become familiar with the assigned neighborhoods, geography, people, and assets and establish a good working knowledge of all city policies and procedures, as well as services provided by other agencies (social services, county or state governments, private sector, etc.)�which could benefit residents. Community Engagement Specialists maintain communications, make presentations, and work with residents and community stakeholders to encourage their input regarding interests of the community, identifying priorities, sharing information, visioning, networking, strategic planning and other creative approaches that encourage collaboration and involvement. Incumbents in this position may work with and provide support to the Welcome Dayton Initiative and Committee.�Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.

License Requirements
Must possess a valid driver's license at time of appointment and maintain thereafter as a term and condition of continued employment.
