Compensation: $44,319.64 - $53,737.57

Position Summary:

The Community Engagement Coordinator is a key position within the Recruitment team. This is a highly visible position with diverse responsibilities that requires a motivated, engaging, and innovative individual to develop and implement community engagement strategies that cultivate and maintain relationships with St. Petersburg College's (SPC) key stakeholders, including community churches, non-profit organizations, community organizations, and partners. This position will be responsible for building a community portfolio for their assigned areas, building relationships and trust with key partners, understanding community needs, developing specific outreach strategies to reach diverse and hard-to-reach populations, and facilitating presentations to create a community around St. Petersburg College. The Community Engagement Coordinator will represent St. Petersburg College positively and effectively, make presentations, attend meetings and events, and participate in community and professional organizations as a representative of SPC. This position requires collaboration with SPC departments and recruitment leadership to share and track community concerns and opportunities. This position will recognize interests and challenges of community members to refer to appropriate support services and information on program options.

The Community Engagement Coordinator will be required to work non-traditional hours including occasional nights and weekends.

Education:

Bachelor's degree

Experience:

Two (3) years of related experience.

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job may be acceptable in lieu of those requirements listed above.

This position will be responsible for building a community portfolio for their assigned areas, building relationships and trust with key partners, understanding community needs, developing specific outreach strategies to reach diverse and hard-to-reach populations, and facilitating presentations to create a community around St. Petersburg College. The Community Engagement Coordinator will represent St. Petersburg College positively and effectively, make presentations, attend meetings and events, and participate in community and professional organizations as a representative of SPC. This position will also require collaboration with SPC departments and recruitment leadership to share and track community concerns, barriers, and opportunities. The Community Engagement Coordinator must be able to manage multiple initiatives and be flexible in a fast-paced environment. Being bilingual is a plus!

Typical Essential Duties:

  • Prepares and delivers presentations to potential participants in the community;

  • Develop and implement community engagement outreach strategies that cultivate and maintain relationships with St. Petersburg College's (SPC) key community stakeholders;

  • Maintain accurate reporting data of community concerns and opportunities;

  • Conducts outreach to community churches, non-profit organizations, community organizations and partners;

  • Participates in community and professional organizations as a representative of SPC;

  • Helps participants understand current job markets by researching career options

  • Identifies skills and interests and refers to relevant workforce programs

Knowledge:

  • Public Relations principles

  • Conducting effective outreach to diverse communities

  • Thorough understanding of all SPC certificate, workforce courses, associate, and bachelor degree programs

  • Knowledge of college and community resources including accessibility support services, veterans programs, student support, learning support, and student assistance programs

  • Knowledge of federal financial aid rules and regulations, state Board of Education requirements, transfer issues and articulation agreements, SPC policies and procedures, FERPA regulations, and relevant legislative changes

  • Fluent with Microsoft Office suite of applications

  • Applicable student support programs, academic advising, and/or related programs;
