As Kentucky's sole organ procurement organization, we facilitate organ and tissue recovery and serve as the state's primary contact for organ and tissue donation. Kentucky Organ Donor Affiliates (KODA) is dedicated to saving lives through organ and tissue donation and transplantation. KODA is looking for a compassionate, accountable, and dedicated candidate to join the team as a full time Community Educator for our West Virginia service area. The Community Educator is responsible for activities related to the promotion of organ and tissue donation and transplantation and the donor registry primarily, but not limited to, the Circuit Court Clerks, West Virginia, Eastern Kentucky and Appalachian populations (extensive travel is required).

The responsibilities of this position include public speaking, community education program planning and implementation, recruiting and managing volunteers, assisting with social media and web content, engaging communities, expanding media relationships in West Virginia and Eastern Kentucky as well as various administrative duties. Duties will be performed throughout Trust For Life and KODA's service area. This position requires extensive travel to and around West Virginia and Eastern Kentucky areas, including mountainous and unkempt roads. Must be willing to drive or travel 2-4 hours at a time regularly, or more on occasion.

Minimum Qualifications for this position are as follows:

Required:

  • College degree required, preferably in marketing, communications, or education

  • Must have successful experience with building relationships with key partners such as Media, Schools, Circuit Clerks, Deputy Clerks, Coroners, Hospitals, and Volunteers

  • Demonstrated experience and a desire to conduct public speaking

  • Candidates must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to prioritize and remain organized and diligent with planning meetings, events and school programs

  • Must have experience with collecting and analyzing data, maintaining database and preparing reports

  • Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation

Desired

  • Three to five years' experience in marketing, fundraising, education, community outreach or other related industries is preferred. Where applicable, experience may be substituted for education on a case by case basis

Kentucky Organ Donor Affiliates (KODA) is dedicated to saving lives through organ and tissue donation and transplantation. KODA looking for a compassionate, accountable, and dedicated candidate to join the team as a full time Clinical Support Coordinator for our West Virginia service area. The Clinical Support Coordinator is responsible for activity related to the procurement of organs and tissues for transplantation, medical education and research. These duties include donor identification and management, family counseling, public and professional education and associated administrative duties. Considerable travel is required. Considerable "on call" responsibility. Specific Duties May Include: * Donor Management * Accepts "on call" responsibilities as determined by the management staff. * Responds promptly and appropriately to all referrals, local and import. * Maintains professional behavior and attitude toward hospital staff, physicians, peers, directors, etc. * Performs potential donor evaluation via phone or on site as indicated. Coordinates on site evaluation with hospital staff, consulting physicians and director on-call as appropriate. * Offers assistance with donor management to hospital staff and attending physician(s) as needed. * Provides appropriate support and management of brain-dead donors in accordance with established protocols. Consults the appropriate intensivist, Medical Director or the director on call as needed. * Provides accurate and complete information to potential transplant center, and performs additional duties as requested. * Administration * Maintains complete and accurate donor, business, personal and expense records as required. * Prepares and submits appropriate referral and donor paperwork for KODA monitoring and tracking. * Maintains donor supplies and equipment to ensure adequate preparation, availability and supply. * Maintains professional working relationship and rapport with management, medical, nursing and ancillary staffs, both within and outside KODA. * Maintains an adequate proficiency level with the use of office equipment to enable completion of assigned duties (i.e. fax machine, computers, printers, copiers, etc.) * Support of KODA Functions * Provides public and professional education as needed. * Participates in KODA's quality assurance programs as assigned. * Participates in staff education and training as assigned. * Participates in providing input to the resolution of management and organizational issues as requested. * Participates in the bereavement/Aftercare program as appropriate. * Personal Development * Completes training and continuing education courses as assigned. * Maintains professional skills (communication, presentation, leadership, teamwork, problem solving, etc.) * Maintains current knowledge of organ/tissue recovery and transplantation. * Attends additional training courses as jointly determined with the appropriate director. * Family Counseling * Recognizes and understands potential family dynamics and coordinates family approach with hospital staff. * Recognizes and corrects timing and decoupling intervals and assists hospital staff in understanding family needs. * Counsels families with a caring, empathetic attitude. * Accesses online donor registry; discusses organ/tissue donation options with potential donor families. Provides accurate, up-to-date information for informed consent. * Completes all KODA and hospital forms as required, including consent forms. Minimum Qualifications Are As Follows: Required: * Bachelor's Degree in health-related field required.
