The Community Corrections Division has a permanent, full time CCO2 opening available in the W. Vancouver Field Office

  • Unit 611. This position, BF48, is located in Vancouver, WA.

The work schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Work hours are determined by unit needs and are at the discretion of the unit supervisor. If you are currently working an alternate work schedule, please be aware that this position may not be able to honor that schedule. For questions, please contact the Human Resource Office.

In accordance with Article 4.7 of the Washington Federation of State Employees (WFSE) 2017-19 Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), this job opening is available to internal transfer candidates ONLY. Employees who meet the following criteria may apply:

  • You are requesting a transfer under Article 4.7 of the WFSE CBA.

  • You are a permanent DOC employee.

  • You currently hold permanent status in the class being recruited for in this job posting.

  • You are currently in a position represented by WFSE.

In this role you will work within the Control Center Communications Operations (TTCO) Group in the Transmission Services (T) business line. The position will support Systems Operations O&M (Operation and Maintenance) and TTCO related projects as well as supporting the design, implementation, and maintenance of mission critical local and wide area networks distributed across the Pacific Northwest, including monitoring and management systems required for ongoing support. Communications Operations is responsible for the overall operation of BPA's entire operational telecommunications system as well as the maintenance of the telecommunications infrastructure at the Control Centers (CC) and jurisdiction. Functions include developing and executing the Telecommunication Systems Infrastructure (TSI) Program which supports all communications and transport systems by providing a high availability infrastructure model. The TSI program is a General Support System (GSS) which is currently managed by the BPA control centers. Functions include integration and implementation, managing, operating and maintaining (O&M), and developing security plans for telecommunications systems. This group provides a system perspective for the entire operational telecommunication system. Mandatory Qualifications (Education, Certifications, Experience, Skills) * With an Associate's degree in applicable fields: 3 years of directly related network infrastructure administration experience is required. * With a Bachelor's degree in applicable fields: 1 year of directly related network infrastructure administration experience is required. * No degree: 5 years of directly related network infrastructure administration experience is required. * Experience should include a minimum combination of work-related experience, on-the-job training, and/or vocational training and be consistent with the specific requirements of Computer/Information Technology or related field and progressively more technical in nature. * This position requires 5 years' expert skill in applying: * Telecom/Network systems administrative principles and concepts with minimal supervision. * Active participation with technical team coordination * Technical evaluation and evaluation process of control system technologies * Developing compliance processes and evidence to meet NERC CIP and FISMA standards * Must have a high level of confidentiality and discretion regarding company proprietary information. * Must possess excellent oral and written communications skills. Desired Qualifications (Education, Certifications, Experience, Skills) * Associate's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a directly-related technical discipline is preferred. * Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a directly-related technical discipline is preferred. * Cisco layer three expertise: Cisco certifications such as CCNP security. * Carrier Ethernet technology and traffic engineering. * Network Operations Center (NOC) experience. * Virtual Private Networks and router encryption. * Fiber optic communication system design. * Solarwinds – System which manages routers and switches through the Network Management System (NMS). * Ciena Carrier Ethernet equipment * Ability to review and evaluate design packages (including drawings, material certifications, and submittals for conformance to the design specifications). * Ability to analyze information and use logic to address work related issues and problems, with understanding of impact on current and future programs and processes.
