Job Description:

Berklee seeks an experienced social worker or mental health provider to join a diverse and dynamic multidisciplinary health and wellness team. We are seeking candidates with strong crisis intervention, de-escalation, & stabilization skills; with acute populations in non-traditional settings; and demonstrated multicultural excellence.

As a member of the Health and Wellness team, this position collaborates closely with Counseling Services, Case Management Services, Public Safety, the Student Affairs On-Call team, the Asst VP, Student Support Services, and Student Life executive leadership to provide real-time wellness checks, crisis intervention, and follow-up care for students living on and off-campus. Flexibility, teamwork, the ability to establish rapport during emotionally charged situations; and the ability to tolerate ambiguity is highly desired.

This position will also be responsible for triaging students of concern and providing case management coordination as needed.

In addition, the Community Case Manager participates in ongoing collaboration with other members of the Health and Wellness staff in providing psycho-educational programming and outreach services to the students, staff and faculty. This position will work together with Health and Wellness leadership to help conduct training, outreach and programing in the campus community on suicide prevention, gate-keeper training, Mental Health First Aid or similar programs and initiatives such as Mental Health Awareness week.

This is a 12 month full time position with evening/overnight work hours.

Hours are Wednesday through Saturday, 3 pm - 11 p

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide consultation and attend crisis/well being checks in the community with Public Safety and in coordination with the the Student Life On-Call team

  • Coordinate response with in-person assessment/intervention and/or college and community resources (e.g., B.E.S.T. team, Existing After Hours Counselor, SA On-call Staff, PS)

  • Refer as appropriate to community providers for psychiatric evaluation, medications and/or longer-term treatment.

  • Provide crisis intervention.

  • Maintain all pertinent documentation.

  • Attend and participate in non-clinical individual and/or group supervision.

  • Attend and participate in all divisional and departmental meetings.

  • Provide consultation and training to staff, faculty and students of the Berklee community

  • Participate in outreach activities in the community (e.g.,residence halls, orientation, campus wide events)

  • Serve on appropriate college-wide committees as required or requested.

  • Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

1.MSW preferred.

3.Excellent, demonstrated crisis intervention skills

4.Multicultural excellence in working with students of color, first generation students, LGBTQ students,

and international students.

5.Strong knowledge of Boston area resources (e.g. BEST team), providers, emergency hospitalization

procedures.

6.2+ years of experience providing crisis and counseling services.

7.Trained in Mental Health First Aid (preferred), particularly as a trainer.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Crisis intervention and triage skills.

  • Working with college students or working within a college setting.

  • Familiarity with mental health online platforms.

  • Ability to engage with multicultural and diverse student populations.

  • Strong consultation and presentation/training skills.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
