Local Community has an immediate opening for an enthusiastic Mortgage Loan Officer to originate mortgages in local market working in conjunction with the Bank Branches in the area. The successful mortgage originator will be responsible for expanding existing bank relationships, working with bank clients, and building new business relationships to promote the Banks loan products.
The ideal candidate must possess:
  • Have at least 3 years of successful mortgage sales experience, and knowledge of Conventional, FHA, USDA, and VA mortgage programs. The bank also has a Portfolio Program
  • Highly motivated and display excellent communication skills.

Regular or Temporary: Regular Language Fluency: English (Required) Work Shift: 1st shift (United States of America) Please review the following job description: Responsible for managing and leading a team of Retail Production Quality Assurance Specialists. Responsible for facilitating Mortgage Lending Administration's (MLA) desired level of compliance performance by loan-production staff in the Retail-channel regions. Encourage and enforce timely and accurate completion of key compliance tasks, including delivery of required regulatory disclosures. Primary focus will be utilization of system-generated reports to identify and help prevent loan-level errors that create compliance risk and/or potential for financial loss. Help identify challenges in MLA Retail processes (and escalate to management) and assist in coaching/training Mortgage Loan Officers (MLOs) on good work habits with respect to compliance. The goal will be to help create an environment in which Retail Mortgage Lending manages compliance activities in a manner that protects the Bank from losses and adverse outcomes (such as regulatory fines, civil penalties, litigation, negative publicity and exam findings) by maintaining an acceptably low exception rate (as determined by BB&T Compliance and MLA management) for key categories of regulatory tasks. Note: each Quality Assurance Team Lead will be assigned to region(s) by Mortgage Lending Administration. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Following is a summary of the essential functions for this job. Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time. 1. Manage and lead a team of Retail Production Quality Assurance Specialists. 2. Review various pipeline reports to proactively identify potential errors daily. 3. Once potential errors are identified, work with MLOs and their managers to help avoid them. 4. Review Loan Estimates generated for accuracy and completeness; report results on a daily basis. 5. Responsible for monthly review to validate errors contained in performance management reporting. 6. Support Knowledge Enablement Team in coordinating with Regional Mortgage Managers (RMMs) in training and coaching MLOs with regards to regulatory compliance. 7. Attend, on a regular basis, RMM calls to update MLOs on progress, issues and changes. 8. Attend regular conference calls with MLA management to discuss progress and challenges. 9. Escalate issues regarding consistent MLO non-compliance to regional and MLA management. 10. Identify MLOs with individual training/coaching needs and coordinate with the MLO's manager to ensure MLO receives necessary support. 11. Responsible for identifying and escalating additional areas of support needed by MLOs. 12. Responsible for maintaining current knowledge with regards to regulatory issues impacting mortgage lending. 13. Work with MLOs to help transition to new technologies (with respect to their impact on compliance). 14. Work with MLOs to help them understand changes to compliance rules. Required Skills and Competencies: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Seven years of experience in audit, quality control compliance or production role, or equivalent 3. Five years of experience in mortgage lending or equivalent 4. Two years of management experience 5. Ability to lead and facilitate meetings 10. Adept with common office technologies and highly adaptable to new technologies 11. Demonstrated proficiency in basic computer applications, such as Microsoft Office software products 12. Ability to travel, occasionally overnight Desired Skills: 1. Four years of experience as either an MLO or Mortgage Loan Processor 2.
