Job Description:
The University of Florida (UF) Department of Pediatrics-Jacksonville is seeking a full-time board-certified pediatrician who is also board certified/board eligible in Pediatric Palliative Care. This physician will join our UF Health Multispecialty practice at the Bower Lyman Center, a collaboration with Wolfson Children's Hospital, which is an innovative, interdisciplinary primary care practice that provides comprehensive care for over 2000 infants, children, teens, and young adults who have special health care needs and may live with disabilities. The Center also offers embedded mental health and inpatient palliative care services as integral components of a comprehensive system of care.
This physician will join two other palliative care pediatricians to provide inpatient palliative care consultative services at Wolfson Children's Hospital (WCH) and UF Health as well as outpatient consults to children with chronic complex conditions with palliative care needs. The successful candidate will work with the staff at the Wolfson Children's Hospital (WCH) and UF Health as well as with UF and Nemours subspecialists to advance the clinical practice, quality of care, and knowledge related to providing palliative care for children and youth within the service areas of WCH and UF Health. He/she will also partner with other community resources for outpatient care the local pediatric palliative care program, Community PedsCare.
The academic appointment will be a tenure/non-tenure accruing level of Assistant/Associate or Full Professor depending upon experience and qualifications. The position will report to the Chief of the Division of Community and Societal Pediatrics and to the Department Chair, and integrate with other initiatives in the Division
General duties and responsibilities:
Provide clinical expertise and comprehensive palliative care within a primary care medical-behavioral home in inpatient and outpatient settings to youth and young adults who have chronic, complex medical, developmental and/or behavioral conditions.
Work with diverse academic and community collaborating organizations and agencies with a commitment to advancing the rights of children, youth, and young adults with complex medical conditions and disabilities.
Participate in monthly department faculty meetings, administrative functions and institutional committees as requested. Clinical supervision and education of fellows, residents, medical students and advanced practice providers.
