Jacobs is currently seeking a Communications System Engineer to support a DoD program in Arlington, VA.

Duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Apply in-depth technical knowledge to capture, plan and design information technology systems, tactical and strategic RF communications in support of national level requirements.

  • Support the formulation and execution of acquisition strategies.

  • Develop system requirements, model use cases, produce conceptual designs, develop technology integration strategies and design systems architectures.

  • Produce system CONOPS and related SDLC documentation.

  • Support system procurement, operational test and acceptance and system deployment activities.

  • Participate in activities to ensure knowledge creation/sharing and integration within and across the work program as appropriate.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Typically has a BS degree in a computer or system science discipline from an accredited college or university and five (5) years to eight (8) years of progressive, relevant experience, or an MS degree in a computer or system science and four (4) to six (6) years of progressive experience, or Ph.D. degree in a computer of system science discipline and zero (0) to three (3) years of related experience.

  • Experience in tactical and strategic RF communications systems.

  • Demonstrate working knowledge in data communications, fiber optics, video teleconferencing and cryptographic equipment.

  • Active TS security clearance with the ability to obtain SCI.

  • Strong verbal and written communications skills.

Desired Qualifications:

  • M.S. degree in System Integration, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Communications Engineering, or equivalent degree with 10 years or more of Information Technology experience preferably with a strong Radio Frequency (RF) and data communications background.

  • Active DoD TS clearance

  • Current SCI eligibility

Most work will be done at a desk or computer.

Work Environment:

General Office environment. The work environment is fast-paced and sometimes involves extreme deadline pressures. The nature of the work requires a high degree of teamwork and cooperation with other members of the staff as well as individuals across the Company and Customers.

Equipment & Machines:

General office equipment including PC/laptop, Fax, Copiers, Shredder, Printers, Telephone, and other miscellaneous office equipment.


Attendance is critical at all times. Must be able to work a 40-hour workweek, normally Monday through Friday. However, times and days may vary depending on business requirements. Needs to be available to work overtime during critical peaks and be available to meet last minute requests for overtime should the situation occur.

Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing

Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others. Must put forward a professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation.

Must be able to interface with individuals at all levels of the organization both verbally and in writing. Must be well-organized with the ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously. Must work well under pressure to meet deadline requirements. Must be willing to travel as needed. Must take and pass a drug test and background check as well as a motor vehicle records check. Must be a US citizen.

Responsibilities * Facilitate daily office operations (e.g., scheduling and coordinating meetings, calendar management, and general office logistics). * Attend and participate in meetings, take meeting notes, record taskers and actions, and update the staff when necessary. * Prepare briefings as appropriate. * Manage scheduling and disseminate changes in a timely manner to the appropriate staff. Review schedules proactively and make necessary changes. Interface with meeting attendees and stakeholders to coordinate and support meetings and other events. * Review incoming and outgoing correspondence, including presentations, briefings, and reports; check for formatting, proofread, and edit as necessary; prepare documents for signature and ensure proper routing through the staff. * Coordinate travel logistics and itineraries.
