Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism or equivalent is required plus a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

Responsibilities for this Position

Join us in creating multi-media communications that increase employee engagement and promote strategic messaging to advance our company's mission. General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Communications Specialist. This is a great opportunity to use both your written and graphics skills to create compelling and informative written and visual communications for our employees. The position provides an opportunity to enhance the performance and profitability of an organization that supports some of our nation's fundamental defense services. General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.You'll be involved with publishing and writing articles for our weekly employee communications; designing graphic content for internal campaigns and our intranet; collating monthly manager communications; scripting, filming and editing short videos; and developing and executing communication plans to support enterprise initiatives. In this role, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with employees and managers across the company. REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:

  • Partners with teams across the business to create, execute and measure the success of communications plans to support enterprise initiatives and roll-outs for new tools and resources

  • Works with collaborative teams to create engaging written and visual media communications for employees

  • Works with subject matter experts to design and update SharePoint sites and portal pages with engaging and informative text, graphics and user-friendly layouts and report website analytics

  • Works with multi-media formats to script, film, edit and produce short videos and animations that are shared on the company intranet SharePoint site

  • Partners closely with the Digital Communications team to plan and develop content to support both internal and external initiatives and platforms, including the General Dynamics Mission Systems social media channels and website

  • Collecting and analyzing web traffic and social media data to develop new ways to attract, engage, retain and develop employees

  • Writes articles using AP Style for the employee newsletter

  • Uses SharePoint, Word, PowerPoint, , Excel, Adobe Creative Suite and other software to complete assignments

  • Exercises creative thinking and ideation to advance our team's business performance

  • Delivers innovative, flexible, integrated solutions to meet our internal customer's changing business needs

  • Supports and engages in programs, projects and practices behind the GDMS culture and strategy, and complies with all policies and procedures

  • Follows industry trends and pursue technology innovation

  • This is the intermediate level in a field of specialization


  • Considerable written and oral communication skills and ability to design engaging graphics, experience designing SharePoint sites and visual media products for presentations and banners

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs, particularly PowerPoint and Word

  • Ability to work independently and to establish a strong working relationship with remote team members

  • Proficient and able to perform all responsibilities associated with the position

  • Grasps and applies new information quickly; handles more complex assignments

  • Shows initiative on assignments, exercises independent judgment and professionally executes projects with little direction


  • Ability to use Adobe Creative Cloud products and videography experience is a plus

  • Knowledge of Associated Press Style is a plus

ICF is growing and we seek an Organizational Change Management (OCM), Communications and Training Specialist to support a large business analysis and management support services contract within a Chief Information Officer (CIO) organization. This position will be located in Arlington, VA with local travel. The ideal candidate will work with a team of technical architects and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to: * Develop an OCM strategy and roadmap to improve adoption of IT initiatives * Provide training, improve communications and mentor project teams to increase the adoption of IT initiatives * Draft global email announcements, design promotional materials, prepare/conduct briefings, and coordinate outreach events * Manage development and execution of communications materials, such as fact sheets, FAQs, Web content, briefings, and demos * Support the project team to develop stakeholder/partner outreach and engagement efforts to obtain awareness, understanding, buy-in, and support * Work with multiple team members to recommend, develop, and implement OCM strategies * Conceptualize, coordinate, and prepare client-ready products that meet both company and client standards and needs * Support the design, development, implementation, and revision of project plans and adhere to established timelines Experience: * 6+ years of professional work experience * Experience and knowledge of change management principles, methodologies, and tools * Demonstrated experience producing communication strategies and organization-wide communications * Demonstrated experience designing and delivering technical training to non-technical audiences * Experience working for government as a consultant or similar environment * Ability to obtain and maintain a federal government security clearance * Bachelor's degree Preferred Skills/Experience: * Experience leading communications/training activities for enterprise-wide IT initiatives * Familiarity with continuous improvement and project management approaches, tools, and phases * Familiarity with agile software development methods/practices or information security policy Professional Skills/Experience: * Analytical skills and the ability to provide insight into project progress * Excellent verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills to include experience with developing and delivering presentations, editing, and proofreading * Ability to explain complex technical concepts in an easily understandable written format * Demonstrated client relationship skills working in a dynamic client environment * Solid computer skills with Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio) * Working at ICF Reasonable Accommodations are available for disabled veterans and applicants with disabilities in all phases of the application and employment process.
