Leidos is pleased to announce that it has been awarded the Next Generation Enterprise Network-Recompete (NGEN-R) Contract. This is an eight-year, $7.7 billion contract that is responsible for maintaining and modernizing the main global network of the Navy and Marine Corps.

In support of this exciting program Leidos is looking to hire a Communications Network Engineer in Quantico, VA to join our Team.

NGEN-R is the largest IT services program for the Navy. Under the Service Management, Integration, and Transport portion of NGEN-R, the Leidos team will deliver the core backbone of the Navy-Marine Corps Intranet, including cybersecurity services, network operations, service desk, and data transport. Ultimately, Leidos will support the Navy in unifying its shore-based networks and data management to improve capability and service while also saving significant dollars by focusing efforts under one enterprise network.

Job Description

The qualified candidate will evaluate communication hardware and software, as well as troubleshoot Local Area Networks/Base Area Networks/Wide Area Networks (LAN/BAN/WAN), and other network related problems. Other duties and responsibilities include:

  • Schedule conversions and cutovers.

  • Administer LAN/BAN/WANs.

  • Coordinate with all responsible users and sites.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, MIS, Business or related field and 10 years of relevant experience

  • Active DOD Secret

  • Specialized experience in the performance and configuration of networks as well as the integration and test of complex large-scale computer integrated networks.

  • Information Assurance Technician (IAT) Level II

  • Must possess an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) network support certification such as a Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA).

The main function of a communications network engineer is to determine user requirements and design specifications for computer networks. A typical network engineer is responsible for planning and implementing network upgrades. This assignment is anticipated to last through 12/27/2020 with potential for extension. Key Responsibilities: * Evaluate communication hardware and software, troubleshoots LAN/MAN/WAN and other network related problems, provides technical expertise for performance and configuration of networks. * Perform general LAN/BAN/WAN administration, provides technical leadership in the integration and test of complex large-scale computer integrated networks. * Schedule conversions and cutovers. * Oversee network control center. * Supervise staff and maintenance of systems. * Coordinate with all responsible users and sites. * Analyze and make recommendations to adjust network sizes to meet volume or capacity demands. * Supervise network operations, maintenance, repairs or upgrades. * Review and approve equipment configuration prototypes, including network hardware, software, servers, or server operation systems. * Review and approve solutions for network problems. * Review and approve conceptual, logical or physical network designs. * Develop procedures to track, project or report network availability, reliability, capacity or utilization. * Develop or recommend network security measures, such as firewalls, network security audits, or automated security probes.
