We have an exciting opportunity for a Communications Network Engineer to join our team. The main function of a communications network engineer is to determine user requirements and design specifications for computer networks. A typical network engineer is responsible for planning and implementing network upgrades.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate communication hardware and software, troubleshoots LAN/MAN/WAN and other network related problems, provides technical expertise for performance and configuration of networks.

  • Perform general LAN/BAN/WAN administration, provides technical leadership in the integration and test of complex large-scale computer integrated networks.

  • Schedule conversions and cutovers.

  • Oversee network control center.

  • Supervise staff and maintenance of systems.

  • Coordinate with all responsible users and sites.

  • Analyze and make recommendations to adjust network sizes to meet volume or capacity demands.

  • Supervise network operations, maintenance, repairs or upgrades.

  • Review and approve equipment configuration prototypes, including network hardware, software, servers, or server operation systems.

  • Review and approve solutions for network problems.

  • Review and approve conceptual, logical or physical network designs.

  • Develop procedures to track, project or report network availability, reliability, capacity or utilization.

  • Develop or recommend network security measures, such as firewalls, network security audits, or automated security probes.

Required Experience/Skills:

  • 10 years of relevant experience

  • Creativity, verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, customer service and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively

  • Expert mentoring skills necessary to provide support and constructive performance feedback.

  • Expert knowledge of computer hardware as it relates to data storage.

  • Expert knowledge of computer software, such as configuration management software, desktop communications software, operating system software and internet directory services software

  • Security+ CE Certified

  • Candidate must be a US citizen

Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field required

IND-SIA Minimum Requirements * Ten (10) years of network engineering experience that includes Five (5) years of specialized experience performing design, development, and testing of IP based communications networks containing heterogeneous traffic, including voice and data. * Current DoDI 8570.01M Information Assurance Technology (IAT)Level II certification. * Must be willing to support limited travel. Preferred Qualifications Experience with various network protocols (OSI Layers 2 & 3) related to resource management, mobility management, routing, and Quality of Service (QoS); experience in developing network test bed and emulations.
