Communications Manager, Retail Bank

We're looking for an experienced Communications Manager to create multi-channel integrated communications strategies in support of Retail & Direct Bank's strategy, priorities, and culture work. In this role, you'll serve as a consultant to two senior executives on a wide variety of initiatives and issues impacting multiple lines of business. As part of a collaborative team of communicators, designers, event planners, and project managers, you'll ensure our associates feel valued, believe in our culture, are better connected to leadership, and know where we are on our journey to become one, Reimagined Bank. General Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a strategic communications advisor to two Retail & Direct Bank executives through the creation of thoughtful communications campaigns that support the Bank's strategy, priorities, and culture

  • Develop and execute multi-channel campaigns, providing ongoing messaging and writing support for communicating key initiatives to associates and other stakeholders, maintain key communications channels such as intranet, newsletters, podcasts, and more

  • Lead large-scale change management programs for lines of business, helping prepare associates for the change through development and execution of appropriate change and communications plans

  • Maintain and create an internal content strategy and delivery plan that establishes a regular, coordinated rhythm to reinforce the strategy, priorities, and culture as well as recognize accomplishments and milestones

  • Develop and execute a measurement strategy to determine the effectiveness of the communications tactics

  • Build and maintain effective relationships with business leaders as well as partners across the Bank including the Campaigns, Creative, Events & Experiences, and Executive Communications teams as well as HR, Chief of Staff teams, and others

  • Proven ability to successfully lead large initiatives with multiple teams and departments

  • Flawless, clear, and consistent communication and partner management

  • Ability to present complex subject matter in a clear, concise, and compelling manner

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with associates across job families in a thoughtful, inclusive, and encouraging manner

  • Detail-oriented, highly organized nature with experience managing large complex communications initiatives

  • Excellent project management, delegation, and prioritization skills

  • Excellent written, oral, and presentation skills

  • Willing to learn, be adaptable, and maintain flexibility

  • Ability to work as part of a team in an open and collaborative environment, and stay calm under pressure to manage rapidly changing priorities

  • The ability to think creatively and demonstrate integrated problem-solving and structured thinking

  • Not afraid to make quick decisions, set direction and priorities, and work with a sense of urgency

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or military experience

  • At least 6 years of experience in developing and leading communications initiatives

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree

  • 5+ years of experience in relationship management

  • 5+ years of experience in project management

  • Demonstrated track record in building multi-channel strategies that drive meaningful impact

  • Possess exceptionally strong written and verbal communication skills, expertise in relationship building, a deep understanding of content strategy and analytics, and strong executive presence

  • Solid project management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects at once

Manager, Counsel - Card and Retail Bank ABOUT THE ROLE: The Card & Retail Bank Legal team is seeking an attorney to provide legal support for Capital One's Retail Bank. The attorney in this role will be responsible for providing support to the consumer bank's market experience lines of business. The successful candidate must be capable of quickly answering complex legal questions that arise in our cafe's and bank branches, including with respect to federal consumer banking laws and state laws impacting consumer deposit accounts. RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE: * Work with compliance and business partners to investigate consumer complaints within your areas of responsibility and develop appropriate written responses * Identify and coordinate resolution of potential line of business compliance or operational errors * Provide legal advice on approaches for standardized responses to particular types or recurring instances of complaints or non-litigation demands for compensation * Legal point of contact for Market Experience - including support for questions that arise in connection with safe deposit boxes, trust accounts, third-party claims against bank accounts, and account disputes * Partner with Compliance and Risk to support cafe and branch initiatives * Daily interactions with branch and associates BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: * Juris Doctor from an accredited law school * Active member in good standing of at least one state bar * At least 3 years of legal experience supporting a retail or direct bank * At least 3 years of experience with laws and regulations related to deposit accounts PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: * At least 4 years as in-house counsel at a banking institution or at least 4 years of experience as a practicing attorney in a law firm providing legal advice for a retail bank * Expertise in Regulation E, Regulation CC, Regulation DD, UDAAP, Articles 3, 4 and 4A * Knowledge of deposit account ownership structures, FDIC insurance requirements and state laws impacting safe deposit boxes * Awareness of state and other political subdivision laws impacting retail establishments * Ability to build collegial and effective relationships with business clients, attorneys, risk and compliance professionals * Ability to prioritize and manage a significant volume of legal questions on a broad array of topics with multiple and simultaneous deadlines * Ability to rapidly synthesize new information and make quick, well-grounded decisions * Excellent legal research and verbal and written communication skills with the ability to influence others At this time, Capital One will not sponsor a new applicant for employment authorization for this position.
