Communications Manager

Opendoor's Communications Manager will work closely with our Corporate Communications Lead and the broader communications team, including local and product/tech communicators, to bring Opendoor's story to life. This person will play a critical cross-functional role in helping Opendoor educate the market, promote our leadership and support our ambitious growth. We are seeking a teammate who can effectively develop and help manage communications programs, tell our story to the media and other audiences and drive thought leadership.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and support strategic communications initiatives across corporate, local and product/tech verticals

  • Lead customer testimonial program, including the creation, vetting and maintenance of an ongoing pipeline of customer stories to help strategically position the brand across internal and external communications efforts

  • Regularly spot trends and monitor for emerging or active issues relevant to Opendoor

  • Execute thought leadership efforts that promote our leadership in the industry

  • Amplify Opendoor coverage through strong relationships with reporters and influencers

  • Develop thoughtful, well-written communications assets (blog posts, press releases, bylines, etc.)

  • Identify, vet and help prioritize speaking opportunities for Opendoor leaders

  • Compose and collaborate on social media content to support communications goals

  • Measure and report program results and business impact

  • Maintain knowledge of the residential real estate industry, housing markets, capital markets and other core areas of relevance

  • Work with our PR agency to coordinate communications efforts

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree and minimum 5+ years of communications experience in-house or in an agency

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment

  • Results-oriented self-starter with strong follow-through

  • Creative, curious and motivated individual

  • Strong media relationships and ability to convert relationships into coverage

  • Excellent written communication skills and the ability to turn complex messages into press-friendly language

  • Based in the San Francisco area with some travel
