Communications Legal Associate (Temporary As-Needed Part-Time Position)

QUALIFICATIONS: Law student or Law graduate

REPORTS TO: Executive Director of Communications

JOB GOAL: Responsible for responding to all legal inquiries, specifically Freedom of Information Act requests that filter through the Department of Communications.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Respond to subpoena requests from the Attorney General's office and other legal entities within the state of Arkansas.

• Respond to all Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests; these requests primarily come from local media, journalists and occasionally individual Arkansas residents.

• Prepare written opinions and conducts independent research in regards to responding to all subpoena and FOIA inquiries and requests.

• Prepare required reports and special reports as requested.

• Sustain familiarity with Google suite products (i.e. Google Drive, Google Docs, Google Sheets, etc.) and Adobe Acrobat and PDF readers.

• Maintain professional digital records-keeping in accordance with existing format.

• Perform related duties as assigned.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Salary Range: $25 per hour

EVALUATION:

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of personnel.
