Communications Dispatcher, SupervisorPerforms supervisory and administrative tasks within the Airport Operations Center (AOC) of the City of Atlanta / Department of Aviation. Duties include but is not limited to supervising and training assigned personnel, responds to radio, telephone, email, alarms, Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) and other data transmitted into the Emergency Management Airport Operations Center (AOC) facility. Answers multiple telephone lines and monitors fast-paced incidents providing up-to-date information as it happens. Dispatches Police, Security, Fire / EMS to emergency and non-emergency incidents based upon established protocol. Provides quality customer service on all interactions with the public and supported operations. Updates information in the Airport Safety & Operations Compliance System (ASOCS). Exercises multitasking and organizational skills by monitoring the CCTV system. Comply with Federal Communications Commission (FCC) regulations and department policies/procedures in the transmission of all radio communications.General Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities * Coordinates communications with "off airport" responders to airport incidents. * Monitors the CCTV system and perform CCTV related tasks. * Provides on-going communications and coordination support to both emergency and non-emergency operations in the field as required. * Acts decisively when incident conditions change and/or airport staff or facilities are endangered. * Provides for the triage of incoming data to prioritize the handling of emergency incidents. * Monitors and reports on various airport systems including but not limited to weather, lightning warning and detections, conveyance and baggage handling, HVAC and building systems. * Conducts detailed and comprehensive briefings to relief controllers before leaving their workstation. * Other related duties as assigned by the Telecommunications Supervisor(s) and/or Manager.Supervision ReceivedNormally receives very general guidance regarding overall mission, scheduling, unusual priorities, etc. but is free to set work methods, timetables, performance standards, etc. Focus is primarily on results and is typically collaborative in nature. Makes decisions on technical issues, diagnoses, or procedures in collaboration with other supervisors, senior supervisor and / or managers.Minimum QualificationsEducation and Experience High school diploma or GED 3-5 years' of supervisory or managerial experience and 5-8 years' of experience in an emergency call center is required or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for this job.Preferred Education & Experience* Georgia Crime Information Center (GCIC) certified and certification by the Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training Council as a Communications Officer (P.O.S.T.) preferred. * Bachelor's degree in communications, aviation management or any equivalent areas equal to the above requirements.* A minimum of two (2) years of aviation experience in access control and two (3) years of experience in public safety emergency communications. * Skills in typing at a minimum of 35 words per minute for a sustained period. * Must successfully pass the Airport's security clearance and maintain security badge privileges at a level determined by the General Manager. * Must possess and maintain, at time of hire, a valid State of Georgia vehicle operator's license. Satisfactory completion and certification of NIMS/FEMA courses 100, 144, 200, 242, 700, and 800 within one year of appointment.* 1 year of experience in customer service or other direct customer contact work required.* 1 year call center experience in a fast-paced work environment preferred * Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred * Applicants must obtain a Georgia Crime Information Center (GCIC) certification and certification by the Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training Council as a Communications Officer within six months after appointment. * Applicants must pass a Communications Dispatcher performance test measuring the ability to receive, retain, and process emergency information. If selected to test, you will be notified via email and may be required to come to the airport to test. * Applicants must be flexible to work various shifts, nights, weekends and holidays.
