How This Role Contributes to Brighthouse Financial:
The Communications Director will report directly to the Chief Communications Officer and Head of Talent and Learning and is an experienced communications professional who provides strategic public relations and communications support across Brighthouse Financial.
Key responsibilities include creating and executing public relations and internal communications strategies that influence a wide range of audiences. The Communications Director is responsible for public relations, including supporting the financial reporting requirements of the company, as well as internal communications that support the strategic objectives and culture of the company.
Develop press releases, key messages and other external-facing communications tools
Act as a spokesperson for the company and conduct proactive and reactive media relations to ensure that Brighthouse Financial is accurately represented in the media
Develop key messages and prepare spokespeople for all press interviews
Support the crisis and issues management processes at the company
Serve as a partner to the Brand and Marketing teams to support product launches and campaigns
Partner with the social media team to ensure consistency of communications across all channels
Support executives at external speaking engagements, which includes message development and presentation/media training, where appropriate
Internal communications support as needed
Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, or related field
8 -10 years of experience in corporate communications (both external and internal), with experience at a publicly-traded company
Track record of success in developing and executing public relations and internal communications strategies
Ability to explain complex concepts and make them relevant to multiple audiences.
Experience working with senior business leaders.
Ability to work as a team player who willingly shares knowledge and information with others, and partners with team members outside the communications function to achieve shared goals.
Sound judgment as a communications professional.
High proficiency in written and verbal communication.
