The School of Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering's (AME) Communications Coordinator will work closely with the school's director to promote the school's research, academic, and service accomplishments in both print and electronic media.

The communications coordinator will exercise initiative and creativity in the development of text and graphics for a variety of printed materials including posters, brochures, displays, alumni newsletters or magazines, etc.

The communications coordinator will be responsible for managing the school's website (ame.ou.edu), setting up electronic photo displays for in-house showcasing, maintaining an active AME identity on social networking sites (Facebook, Twitter, etc.), and writing and publishing weekly blog articles (blogs.ou.edu/ame).

In addition to these promotional responsibilities, the communications coordinator will develop surveys, maintain an alumni database, and collect statistical data for continuous program accreditation and assessment review.

The communications coordinator will also coordinate, manage, and assist with various projects and events as assigned.

Required Education: Bachelor Degree OR an equivalent combination of education/job related experience, AND:

  • 12-24 months experience in communications/multimedia/marketing

Skills:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office

  • Highly organized and able to handle multiple projects and deadlines

  • Able to communicate well and build rapport quickly with students, faculty and staff

  • Video or audio editing skills

  • Experience in communications/multimedia/marketing.software (i.e. Adobe InDesign, Photoshop), graphics/photo software (i.e. Adobe PhotoShop), and photography/video

  • Experience in Event planning and travel bookings

  • Composition and proofreading skills

Certifications:

  • None

Advertised Physical Requirements:

  • Regular pressure to meet deadlines. May be required to bend, lift, stoop, carry, move and climb stairs. May be required to sit for sustained periods at computer. May be required to stand for sustained periods during events.

Departmental Preferences:

  • Master's degree in Journalism, PR, Marketing, Graphic Design, or related field.

  • Experience in OU Policies and Procedures
