What We Want

The Graduate and Professional School is looking for a Communications Coordinator who will assist the Communications and Marketing Director in producing informational and promotional materials to support the Graduate and Professional School. The Communications Coordinator will support communications with graduate students, faculty, staff and other stakeholders, as well as help elevate and market the Texas A&M graduate education brand. The ideal candidate will be a storyteller, skilled in marketing and communications across various formats and platforms.

What You Need to Know

Compensation: $52,000 - $55,000; commensurate to selected hires qualifications.

Other Factors: This position may require work outside of standard business hours including nights and/or weekends.

Essential Duties/Tasks

  • Writing/Editing
  • The Communications Coordinator will research, write, edit, proofread, and produce a wide range of written content in various formats such as news announcements, feature stories, newsletters, social media posts, speeches, and reports. Meticulously craft each piece of content, ensuring adherence to the style, voice, and messaging guides ensuring alignment with the strategic communications plan and the Graduate and Professional School's identity and values.
  • Design
  • The Communications Coordinator will assist in creating, editing, proofreading, and producing design content that adheres in adherence to brand guidelines, which will be used for both promotional and informational communications. The Communications Coordinator will assist in designing brochures, crafting concise one-pagers, creating appealing invitations, and developing eye-catching digital signage. They also will assist in the design of advertisements that capture attention and convey the brand's message effectively. The Communications Coordinator will assist in creating engaging content for social media and design flyers that resonate with the target audience.
  • Website CMS/CRM Management
  • The Communications Coordinator contributes to the digital presence of the organization by assisting in the updating, maintenance, and organization of web content. They will assist in the monitoring of web traffic patterns, leveraging this data to implement Search Engine Optimization (SEO) strategies that enhance the user experience. The Communications Coordinator will assist in the utilization of the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tool, a key component in increasing brand awareness and marketing Texas A&M University to prospective graduate students. This role requires a keen understanding of digital marketing strategies and a commitment to promoting the organization's brand effectively.
  • Social Media
  • The Communications Coordinator will assist in the creation of compelling content tailored for various social media channels. They will assist in the monitoring and tracking of user engagement metrics to assess the effectiveness of the content and to inform future content strategies. This dual responsibility ensures that the content not only resonates with the target audience but also drives meaningful engagement for prospective Texas A&M graduate students.
  • Research/Best Practices and Asset Management
  • The Communications Coordinator will assist the Director of Marketing and Communications, as well as the Graduate Recruiting Team, in the research and ideation of innovative communication, marketing, and production strategies and formats. This role requires a proactive approach to staying informed about industry advancements and educational opportunities within the communications and recruitment marketing landscape. Assists in the management, curation, and preservation of the unit's digital asset management library by facilitating the upload and maintenance of digital resources.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or any equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Three years of communications and/or marketing experience

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent written communication and design skills with strong interpersonal and organizational skills.

  • Knowledge of graphic design software, such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc. or an equivalent design environment).

  • Knowledge of and/or willingness to learn Digital Asset Management system theory, administration, and maintenance.

  • Familiarity with and/or willingness to learn CMS and CRM services and applications.

  • Comfort with social media and ability to maintain an engaging social media presence.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in higher education.

  • Bachelors Degree in Communications or Marketing.

  • Three years of professional experience in a combination of written communications, multimedia/graphics design, digital marketing, website content production, general web development/administration, customer relationship management.

  • Proven experience working within a brand environment while displaying creativity in written and visual communication.

  • Has an understanding of branding and the workings within a brand.

  • Knowledge of photo editing theory; software, hardware, and practical knowledge.

  • Knowledge of video editing theory; software, hardware and practical knowledge.

  • Knowledge of spreadsheet,and database software.
