Communications Coordinator

General Job Description:
Under the direct supervision of the Superintendent and in coordination with the administrative team, the Communications Coordinator develops and proactively coordinates a cohesive communication and public relations plan for the district.
Essential Functions
Communications Coordination:
Serves as an administrative team member, coordinating a cohesive communications plan for the district in collaboration with the district office administrative team, engaging in proactive and strategic planning for communications and branding.
Serves as the spokesperson for the school district for all inquiries. Coordinates and provides crisis communications as needed.
Serves as a liaison between the district and local media outlets to facilitate coverage of noteworthy events and achievements.
Drafts press releases, newsletters, and other communication materials to inform stakeholders about school activities. This includes internal, parent, and external communications.
Designs strategic communication campaigns for issues important to the community.
Media Production:
Creates engaging multimedia content, including videos, podcasts, and visual materials, to highlight school events, achievements, and educational initiatives.
Collaborates with teachers, students, and staff to capture and showcase the diverse activities and talents within the school community.
Social Media Management:
Manages and updates the school's social media accounts to promote events, share important announcements, and showcase student accomplishments.
Monitors social media trends and incorporates innovative strategies to enhance the school's online presence.
Website Maintenance:
Maintains and updates the school website with current and relevant information, ensuring a user-friendly interface for parents, students, and the community.
Works collaboratively with school administrators to develop and implement improvements to the website.
Event Promotion:
Develops promotional materials for the district and schools, including posters, flyers, and digital content.
Assists in coordinating and executing special events, ensuring effective communication before, during, and after the events.
Photography and Graphic Design:
Captures high-quality photographs during school events and activities.
Creates visually appealing graphics for various communication channels, maintaining a cohesive and professional visual identity.
Performs other related duties as may be necessary and assigned by the superintendent.
Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, and Personal Attributes:
Knowledge
Proven experience in media production, social media management, and communications is required. Experience within an educational environment is preferred.
Prior experience in desktop publishing, word processing, editing, reporting, use of electronic communication software (Email and web), and database software preferred.
Any equivalent combination of experience and education will be considered.
Proficiency in graphic design software and multimedia editing tools.
Familiarity with educational environments and a passion for promoting positive school culture.

Work Environment
The usual and customary methods of performing the job functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling, and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 80% sitting, 10% walking, and 10% standing. This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.
Experience: Proven experience in communication, media production, and social media management is required. Experience within an educational environment is preferred.
Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited university is required. A major in Journalism, Communications, or English is preferred.

FLSA Status: Exempt
Salary Range: $90,000-100,000
